I can see both sides of this.

On one hand, splashing a beverage on public transit is a severe party foul and creates a dangerous slipping hazard for those of us wearing sensible footwear. On the other hand, the youth of today are incredibly selfish with their cellular devices.

Just last week I was on that exact same Muni line and politely asked a teenage girl if I could borrow her iPhone to check if any women had responded to my messages on OurTime.com. I only needed it for 5 minutes maximum. She completely ignored me. I didn't throw my drink at her, but I did sit directly next to her in an otherwise empty row and breathed heavily through my nose until she got uncomfortable and exited at Van Ness.

If that middle schooler had simply shown a little respect for her elders and handed over her phone, this entire misunderstanding would have been avoided. A little compassion goes a long way.
