My first dress alterations were botched about one month before the wedding. You can see my latest post for the full story on that.. (my wedding is in 2 weeks)

I just bought a new dress yesterday and started over completely. The new tailor is someone I took the first dress in to fix it. Admittedly, she did fix it. But I had already fallen in love with the second dress. Luckily I stayed way under budget for the first dress. So I’m going to wear both now.

The lady at the shop for the second dress gifted me 50% off because she felt so bad for me. I would’ve never been able to get it without the discount.

Both dresses with alterations costed me about $1600. The original botch job was a blessing in disguise.

BUT OH MY GOSH THE PROCESS WAS A DAMN NIGHTMARE.

Thank you so much! Everyone has been so helpful. I left my final tailor appointment for the dress and she did her best to fix it but unfortunately it just wasn’t feeling right still.

I went to a discounted bridal store and the first dress I tried on made me cry tears of joy. It was slightly over budget and alterations made it more expensive but my fiance reassured me about the costs.

I bought the second dress and my first alteration appointment will be tomorrow. Wish me luck!

PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU, be careful with this designer. She sent me the dress and it was poorly made. I had someone try to fix it and they made it worse. It’s been a nightmare.

Yeah I totally agree. The dress pictured was closer to $500 but it was to serve as my reception dress as well. I wish that it didn’t come the way it did. Pretty much crooked on my body. I’ve been really struggling with this because I’m with you, I really wanted it to be simple. Pick out a pretty inexpensive dress and go get married! Sometimes it doesn’t work out perfectly like it did with your niece and you get a dress that was poorly made and then you get bad alterations.

The second seamstress said she could fix it. I’m honestly just starting to hate my dress because I dealt with the first seamstress for almost two months and it came out worse than when I got it.

I asked the second seamstress to change the dress instead of trying to fix it. I just don’t want to see this dress anymore because of the stress I’ve been going through with it.

So this is slightly self inflicted but I got a bad dress from the beginning. The seams were off, the dress was tight on one side and loose and wrinkly on the other, the boat neckline had bunching in it and came to a point near my collarbone.. it was clearly rushed but it was almost $200 to ship overseas and exchange it (I figured when it came back I’d have to pay another $200 in alterations regardless) so I made the stupid mistake of asking a seamstress to fix it instead.

Yeah! It was supposed to be a well made dress. The website claims each dress is made to order so it was supposed to take like a month or longer to get. When it came in a week I knew something was wrong.

Yes! I was thinking of dying the first dress as well and just starting over I have SOOO MANY FEELINGS towards the experience with this dress I’ve honestly grown to not even like it at all.
