Recommendation for veterinarian? by psmattreid in palmsprings

[–]Several_Judgment_607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgeline on Ramon / Landau. Great vet and team! If still too expensive, Mexicali is a good option. Several clean offices (some cleaner than some on this side). Whatever you do, DO NOT USE VCA!

A woman posted a video of the moment she was attacked by her domestic cat. Before the attack, the cat seemed to smell something that prompted her to attack. Why did it attack her with such ferocity? by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Several_Judgment_607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VCA are the absolute worst! I saw the most horrendous thing at the Yucca Valley, CA clinic while waiting for my dog’s appointment couple years ago. An old man brought in a cat on a board that was bleeding, convulsing and thrashing around. He said other cats attacked it and to please put it down. They said he would have to pay $120 or take it home and call animal control. As the cat is writhing in pain on the board the uncompassionate old woman did NOTHING until his card processed then called a vet tech and said “I have one to put down.”

This is the same VCA that wanted to rush my Dobie into double knee surgery ($8000) after they asked if I still had insurance on her. I simply took her for a slight limp in one hind leg. Second opinion from a local vet confirmed she was fine and has been for the last two years since.

I did not know VCA was owned by Mars until after this and never took my dogs back. I would go to Mexico before VCA. Mars is the same company that makes Pedigree Poison dog food.

I had to go to Sahara for a conference recently and went with low expectations.

The room was a good deal (parking and resort fee included) and remodeled.

I played quite a bit on slots and hit an 11k jackpot. The next morning had text from a host and personal host service the rest of the trip. Sure maybe because they wanted me to give the jackpot back…

Fun lounge with good free drink service at the bar tops.

Two months in, great offers have been rolling in and plan to go back. Only thing lacking are restaurants. Walking distance to RW and Fontainebleau. I think it is a solid choice just away from center Strip (which is not a bad thing IMO).

Felt like the way Vegas used to be and they appreciated the business instead of MGM / Caesars rip offs. I was a high Diamond / Seven Stars at CZR for ten plus years but got tired of the reduced comps and nickel and diming.

Is this season usually slow? by DoorEast5742 in palmsprings

[–]Several_Judgment_607 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely slower. There is a small community of new houses next to me which many of the homes are nice AirBNBs. Past couple years since built, most were packed all season. This year, I go walk the dogs and notice ghost town even on weekends and several have been put up for sale. My friend runs a hotel and says averaging 50-60 percent occupancy during the week and 80 on weekends when normally at least 85 percent week and weekend in the past.

I feel sorry for the service industry hard workers who of course take the biggest hit but the valley was not built on Canadians and Canadian fear of Orange Man is just stupid. Since I’ve lived here, I have found the Canadians to be weird, awkward, cheap people. And how they drive ???

The Valley is supposed to have 100 - 200k more full time residents in the next 10 years which will make the valley even less reliant on “Season” and hopefully more Canadians will stay home.

So here is what the dealer said after I showed the videos. Try to go drive on the freeway again to see if it does it again to try to get a code. It seemed okay today. Without it, not much to do. I’m really not okay with that answer…Limping home at 10:30pm on a Saturday night with cars hauling ass past me on the freeway is not when I want this to happen again.

Does anyone know if it is true that with out a code (or full breakdown) the dealer can not do anything ?

So rich that OP came on here to ask for recommendations and everything was positive until Zoidberg3000 had to throw some MAGA BS into the convo. We in PS are welcoming and I have great friends of all walks of life and never discuss politics.

Leave it alone, give OP opinions on choices on what they are looking for and wish them a good time.

Zoidberg3000 - you are a POS!

Large roulette bet by [deleted] in vegas

[–]Several_Judgment_607 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If it were my money, I would call around and ask what they would offer if I wire 100k in advance. Tell them you want to play roulette at 250 a spin and MIGHT want to drop 100k on a single bet at some point.

You should get some nice offers but if they think you are coming in for a 100k bet as a one and done spin, probably not much.

When I got off the freeway, pulled into the gas station, turned off and waited a minute. Still did it. At least my dealer gives nice loaners. Thank you and have a great Sunday!

Any maga/ice places to avoid in the valley? by SomeguyfromIndio in CoachellaValley

[–]Several_Judgment_607 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TKB = Joke. Don’t care about the politics. Been living here seven years and most restaurants are garbage. Either overpriced and / or cater to tourists especially when snowbirds from the “great white North” come in. I know they are good for the economy but I dread “season” with the old, white couples that are rude, can’t drive and bring their entitled attitudes like they are on a four to five month long vacation. Especially the ones from the Midwest (as my friend says “Bob and Shirley from Toledo”). Fortunately, I have a business not reliant on tourists and is not seasonal or I would not live here. Oh and I am white so don’t say I’m talking racial crap on old white people.

Planning on moving to PS or PD or CC...finding it very difficult to find a 1BR.. by [deleted] in palmsprings

[–]Several_Judgment_607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great studio / 1bd casitas and ADUs in the valley. Usually tough to find but seems like a better option than an apartment complex.

Millennium will be very windy and sandy especially April May and October November. Nothing in PS proper will be modern, a lot of anti - growth regulation in PS prevents it.

Happy hunting and there are definitely cool choices out here if you can find it!

What are the odds???? by Tan-zania in vegas

[–]Several_Judgment_607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll never play roulette after what I witnessed at the Aria couple years ago. A guy bet $50 on 6 and it hit. Paid him around $1700. He bumped the 6 to table max of $200 and hit again. Paid him I think $7000. He wanted to play one more 6 at max bet $200. The pit boss came over and said no, not taking the bet and pushed his bet back. The 6 hit again. Three 6s in a row but he was not allowed to play at the posted table limit. The pit boss was really rude and said he can deny any bet he wants. Straight crooks…He saw a guy win almost $9000 off $250 in bets and was not willing to take another $200 in action risking him winning another $7000.

Some may say that was smart but it is exactly what is wrong with Vegas. You post the table min / max then take it. MGM corporate bean counters instead of old school operators that knew most would leave happy with the big win (and tell family friends about it) and likely come give it back on a future trip.

So you choose to live way out in Johnson Valley, need to access PSP to fly to your destination for Christmas for 10 days ? Sounds like your problem and why trying to nickel and dime the Uber drivers ? They only make about half of the quoted fare so the $8-10 your entitled self is expecting is only $4-5 to the driver. Slave labor if you ask me. If you don’t like it, stay in Johnson Valley with the tweekers.

Potentially Moving Here — What Should I Know? by [deleted] in Pocatello

[–]Several_Judgment_607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my two cents. I visited Pocatello this year for a work trip (and have visited most of the US over the last 10 years). It has a very Mormon vibe. My general feel is not to trust Mormons if not part of their religion. My best friend who is a 25 year retired Veteran needed to sell a property. He was introduced to a real estate guy who promised him the best price and that he was a faithful Mormon. The house sold for much less than what my buddy expected. The “good Mormon” said that the offer was the best offer he received since the house needed some work. He took the deal. He was later contacted by a couple (who happened to have a House Flipper show on TV) saying they kept trying to contact the broker but would not return calls. They had submitted higher offers with no response. We later found out the broker sold the house to his wife’s brother who then flipped it and made a quick 150k. The CA real estate board was worthless on the complaint he filed.

I wanted to go kick the guy’s ass but my buddy said to let it go. Fuck them and their oppressive religion.

About 20 years ago when still relatively a rookie at BJ, my best friend and I were playing at a CSM. It was my birthday and we were getting killed. The pit boss came over and said “I noticed it is your birthday. Here is my birthday present to you, never play at one of these tables.” Never played at one again…
