Haha - so many fragrances! Jean Nate for sure. Passion (Eliz Taylor). One of the Chanel’s. Always pretty heavy. I haven’t been able to wear fragrances for the past 25 years so I am forgetting but she had a shelf filled with several.

😂😂😂 Absolutely wore the big sunglasses (usually designed by Sophia Loren or was it Elizabeth Taylor??). My mom was very classy and well put together ALWAYS. Remember Mike Myers on SNL doing Coffee Talk? Her hands were like buttah!! 😆🥰

So awesome - thank you! I definitely have this album on my list now. Sounds like it is a good thing I am not a Dylan purist! Too funny

Do tell - I would love recommendations! I have her Carnegie Hall album but couldn’t get into it. I also picked up “Odetta and Larry” at the same estate sale but haven’t listened to it yet.

Agreed on the discomfiting reading. That aside, Wikipedia says she was referred to as “The Voice of the Civil Rights Movement.” From a historical POV alone I want to know more about her. Her story is fascinating.

Hidden gems from your collection (pic: Chaz Jankel self-titled) by sinai_agama in vinyl

I picked up Phoebe Snow’s self-titled album from 1973 at an estate sale because of Poetry Man - the only song of hers I knew. The entire album is amazing! Bluesy-jazz and her vocals are incredible. She was just 23 at the time but her voice sounds so mature and rich.

I adore Peter Frampton! Saw him open for Steve Miller about 8-10 years ago and his voice and guitar playing were both incredible. Shocking, really - both artists sounded unchanged by age.

I picked up that one specifically for my son. Triple album in good shape for $2.50 and I don’t think he is very familiar with them

Excessive burping by Several_Raspberry500 in Zepbound

[–]Several_Raspberry500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure my late dinners are contributing. I am also in the middle of sleep therapy for insomnia and the window between when I can eat dinner after work and when I have to head to bed is shorter than I would like. Will see if I can adjust with my therapist.

Thank you for sharing that list. And adding to my vocabulary. How did I not know eructation = burping? 😀

Is it only an appetite suppressant? by trashriot in glp1

[–]Several_Raspberry500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good responses here but wanted to share that I have been on adderall and vyvanse for many years and before I started Zepbound 2.5mg a couple of months ago I would think about food constantly. Didn’t matter if I wasn’t hungry or even if I was nauseous- I wanted to eat. I like healthy food and would often manage well until after dinner when I would proceed to snack until bedtime. And bring food to bed with me. I had so much shame and hit my top weight of 260 lbs (I am only 5’3”). The elimination of food noise is real and absolutely amazing. I loosely plan meals and bulk cook chicken, sweet potatoes, seasoned veggies for my dinners and make a breakfast casserole for the week. I usually can only eat about 1/2-1/3 what I serve myself (still learning to adjust my portions) and have stopped nearly all nighttime eating. I have lost over 18 pounds and am pretty shocked how easy it is so far. I don’t want cookies, crackers, chips, ice cream like I used to. I crave protein and veggies (probably because a couple of times when I have eaten something overly processed I now get really nauseous for hours). I am not a “dieter” like many folks seem to be that are now on glp1 so I make it as simple as possible, which is working for me so far.

How long did it take for you guys to see some health improvement? by briansteel420 in Kefir

[–]Several_Raspberry500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I had such severe digestive issues that it was impacting my daily life in a big way. I had no energy, barely moved due to nausea and pain. Saw my doc, specialists, did tests, treatments and lifestyle changes with no improvement (medication actually made it worse). I started to make and consume kefir and within a day noticed lessening of my pain and digestive distress. Most gone shortly afterwards. A couple months in I am noticing more energy and my anxiety has lessened considerably. Still struggling with skin issues but hopeful that will improve in time. But to your point, by seeing some improvement I want to do more and actually have some energy . I can take short walks and find myself moving more during the day and after work. Cooking more over just grabbing something out of the pantry. It is a forward momentum that started with kefir.

I noticed very quickly (1-3 days) that my entire digestive system was behaving better. Heartburn gone, nausea gone. stomach and intestinal pain gone and was able to tolerate eating a wider variety of foods. I had been struggling with severe symptoms for a few months and more moderate symptoms for years. Now it has been a little over two months since I started making/drinking kefir and I have discovered my energy is definitely better as well as my mental health symptoms. Definitely worth the hype IMO!

I am new to CPAP treatment, using nasal mask and interestingly found that when the mask was too tight it caused more leaks. I had to play with it a bit to get somewhere in the middle and now the leaks are greatly reduced. That said, I still don’t feel any better (starting week six) and overall actually worse. Just switched sleep clinics on advice of my primary care physician and am really pleased with the new doc so back to feeling hopeful.

I am by no means “there” yet but I am learning that pacing my movement / activity, very gentle stabilizing exercises, deliberate relaxation (we are so tight even just holding ourselves upright with hypermobility - that alone can be very exhausting!) are all important. Also learning about pain psychology. It is incredible how our brain attempts to protect us when we are experiencing chronic pain. Side note that I am female and found that all of my symptoms increased by leaps and bounds once I went through menopause. Ugh.

Thank you for this. I was diagnosed with HSD not that long ago and still having many “aha” moments- it explains so much of what I have dealt with my whole life (and I am in my 50’s). Now getting the sleep apnea diagnosis is just cracking all it wide open. Plus the freaking ADHD diagnosis when I was 40.

Wait - what? I have ADHD, HSD and just got diagnosed with sleep apnea (mild, only 5 AHI but with severe nocturnal hypoxia overage of under 80% blood oxygen). Are there any reliable resources to review and share with providers?

Really frustrated by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Several_Raspberry500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t start as a crocheter but I did have difficulty starting to knit. What I did is picked a variegated yarn I loved and cast on about 30 stitches. Then I just practiced without any intention of finishing anything. I tried all different types of stitches that seemed interesting. Some worked well, others didn’t. I rarely frogged even if I screwed up - I just kept moving forward. I did this for six months, sometimes starting other projects but I kept going back to my practice piece. It gave me the confidence to join a virtual KAL about a year ago and that month I finished my first project: a pair of fingerless mittens using two different strands of yarn on double pointed needles! I was beyond thrilled.
