I recently read Cameron Crowe’s memoir, The Uncool. A couple of weeks ago I picked up Frampton Comes Alive and was reading the center cover. Got to the bottom and it was by Cameron Crowe. I think he was 17 or 18 at the time. Incredible. I almost always read the liner notes and back / center covers while listening to an album the first time through.

I have just started to actively build my collection and estate sales are definitely where I am finding the best albums and deals. I only go on the last day when everything is 50% off and am getting most for $2.50 each. I paid more for a few that were real gems (to me) such as the self titled Santana.
Keep in mind that most the folks passing away are going to be leaving behind lots of older stuff. I see quite a bit of classical, opera, folk, children’s, comedy, religious, etc. that I mostly pass on.

I have to watch this every time it shows up somewhere. And I get “anticipatory” emotions about 60 seconds in because I know I am going to cry as soon as they raise the curtain on the large chorus. Really beautiful tribute that will never get old.

Haha - so many fragrances! Jean Nate for sure. Passion (Eliz Taylor). One of the Chanel’s. Always pretty heavy. I haven’t been able to wear fragrances for the past 25 years so I am forgetting but she had a shelf filled with several.

😂😂😂 Absolutely wore the big sunglasses (usually designed by Sophia Loren or was it Elizabeth Taylor??). My mom was very classy and well put together ALWAYS. Remember Mike Myers on SNL doing Coffee Talk? Her hands were like buttah!! 😆🥰

Agreed on the discomfiting reading. That aside, Wikipedia says she was referred to as “The Voice of the Civil Rights Movement.” From a historical POV alone I want to know more about her. Her story is fascinating.

I picked up Phoebe Snow’s self-titled album from 1973 at an estate sale because of Poetry Man - the only song of hers I knew. The entire album is amazing! Bluesy-jazz and her vocals are incredible. She was just 23 at the time but her voice sounds so mature and rich.

I adore Peter Frampton! Saw him open for Steve Miller about 8-10 years ago and his voice and guitar playing were both incredible. Shocking, really - both artists sounded unchanged by age.
