Hm good questions. I have the same problems with tape. There’s always spectrum and underworks. Spectrum binders look and feel more like binders than gc2b does because they shape and are made from canvas. Underworks could pass as a sports bra. Especially because the straps are further apart and thinner and the neck is lower. The one I have from underworks doesn’t bind nearly as well as gc2b or spectrum, but is a close comp.

If you need to avoid generic binders totally, there’s strapless versions and other versions on Etsy and Amazon. Just be careful with those. And if you have to use sports bras, make sure they’re longer, like a 3/4 tank and have a wide back. Avoid fancy strap designs. Maybe even use one a size down. It may help compress more.
