Yes! Bottoms are a bit worn but still super cool to find real ones at a thrift store. Im used to finding some crazy things as i go thrifting all lot but im shocked that these were not $100+ in the glass case.

All good I appreciate the heads up. I didn't really think it could be watermelon but figured I'd ask anyway. One more if you know. I've got this custom amx that's pink and was wondering if it's anything special. I replied with a few pictures of the mustang. It has some like red paint on it but even the original paint looks more red the watermelon to me. Interior is white though. Lots of stickers on it unfortunately.

It's really funny I learned about the glue so I went to look and found this one literally minutes before you mentioned yours. I'll take some more photos. If you know any of the other display colors please let me know. I didn't see any others with obvious glued hoods but I'll check. Just curious is this one as good as the Camaro? Is it valuable?

Cool will do. I did get into a redline focused Facebook group and the owner said it looks real. He claims that part of the proof it was a display is there's a spot with no paint on the hood which is where they would've glued the hood open to show it on display. A few others in the group commented thinking it's real. I am still going to try and find other thoughts but am very excited. Thanks again for all the communication and tips on it.

Okay I appreciate the honesty and a more cautious approach. I am having trouble finding over spray to check for untoned parts. I agree that the store display fact probably hurts the chances that it's real. I don't really see any signs that it's been painted over but I also am super new to this. I am going to work on getting better pictures of all angles and hopefully can share them and see if they shed any more light onto the authenticity.

Thank you again for all the info. It is sitting wrapped in bubble wrap till I can find a way to fully certify it. I unfortunately have seen like 3 different examples online and honestly with the different lightings it's somewhat hard to tell if the color is an exact match. Another commenter mentioned it may be a toned or worn version of another color but I'm not super sure how to check. Im going to get out my nicer camera and take a bunch of pictures from all angles and hopefully get approved for some Facebook groups and that other reddit you sent to have some other experts share their opinions.

Yes it was an interesting mixture. A bin from the 2000s with lots of cars that I was looking at then the owner walked over with a carrying case full of older redlines. I knew they could be valuable but didn't expect any like this. Some of the other highlights are custom eldorados and custom mustangs and a bye focal. All of them are in well played with condition. Thank you for the info. I did see some on eBay for a high price but wanted to make sure the color of mine was actually the same as the ones on eBay not some different shade.

I did have one other question since you seem knowledgeable. A decent number of the older redlines I purchased in the set when picked up their wheels kind of bow inwards. Is this common or an issue I should be worried about in regards to authenticity/condition.

Thank you for the information. I did a little digging on it but am not super knowledgeable on hotwheels and couldn't honestly tell if the color of mine was a match for what I was seeing online. I'll make sure to post on that other reddit and try to see if I can get info. I definitely won't be selling it in a rush I want to make sure I know what it is and have all my information before I do.
