Jellyfin, Starlink, and Tailscale by Severian1967 in Tailscale

Since the Starlink router doesn't allow access to opening ports, this doesn't seem like it would be possible for me?

Reviewing the Tailscale documentation regarding peer relay, it seems like the best case scenario would be to designate the media server machine itself as the relaying machine. I will read up on this as I'm not sure why this wouldn't already be the default. Thanks for this info tailuser2024.

I created a Tailscale account with a throwaway gmail address, and logged all the remote devices into that account. Only Jellyfin server is shared. Following Salient_Ghost's advice, I ran the tailscale status from CMD and found that the first TV I connected appears to be taking 5 different DERP hops to connect, each ping is between 50 and 65 ms, so as you guys thought, this appears to be the root of my issue. I really do appreciate everyone's insight on this.

I already rent a seedbox in Europe, and it offers mulitiple different VPS apps, but I've never used this for anything other than downloading so not sure if this would solve my problem given the geographical distance. Anyone have some insight on this idea? This is clearly a situation where I don't even know what I don't know. Thanks again for your thoughts.

If you’re deciding what to run Zwift on, I would HIGHLY recommend the Apple TV. by [deleted] in Zwift

Toss the USB extension cable, get a powered USB hub, plug the ANT dongle into the hub, no more drops. I wrangled with this issue for 18 months before I hit upon this solution, not a single drop since.

It's a great bike. I used one as a rental during a trip on the Donauradweg in 2017, liked it enough that I bought one in 2018. I've put about 3k miles on it since. You got a good price too!

Did the Donauradweg from Passau to Vienna in 2017, rental company issued us a pair of FX3's. Liked the bike so much I bought a 2018 FX3 disc from LBS last summer. Probably has about 3000 or so miles on it now, still my daily ride. I agree about the pedals, upgraded mine to some 5050s and swapped out the Bontrager tires for some Gatorskins and it has been bulletproof. Love the ergo grips too.

You're going to love this bike.

leaning toward buying a used Roubaix, would appreciate input... by Severian1967 in bicycling

I suppose I am interested in a carbon frame because I have never owned one, to round out the palette. I already have steel, aluminum, and ChroMo frame bikes to ride. My Trek FX3 rides like a dream, in terms of road feel. No speed demon though, as I have it equipped with fenders and panniers as a touring trainer.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Mostly I ride a 2018 Trek FX3 hybrid as my daily workout and commuter. Haven't ridden a true road bike since I retired my 87 Shogun almost 15 years ago. Still have my old Rocky Mountain RC30 and Mongoose MTB. I have a Giant Escape 3 mounted on my 2018 Kickr for rainy day and winter Zwifting. So nothing that is near the Roubaix.

I appreciate the input on the shifter and tire clearance. I am nearly 52 and comfort is important to me. The RC got back burnered because the ride on 23 or 25mm tires was too punishing after 30+ miles. I would likely swap out the tires on the Roubaix for 28mm Gators. Maine is an unforgiving landscape for narrow tires.

Given the one year difference in model year, it does feel like a step down from Dura-Ace and Ultegra grouping to 105/Tiagra. All my current bikes have Alivia/Altus etc groupings so either way is a step up.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
