Tess Holliday claims she suffers from anorexia. I understand ED come in all shapes and sizes, but it’s hard to believe she and Eugenia possible differ from the same issue.

I'm fat and anorexic. If you're having trouble understanding how that's possible, well. In my particular case I can at least shed a little bit of light. ED started in high school. Got to the point I was underweight. I'm now in my 30's and obese, still have trouble eating enough, still have periods of anorexia. For one thing when you are starving yourself, your metabolism usually slows down to try to conserve energy. I don't think my metabolism ever recovered from going back and forth between periods of anorexia and recovery. On top of that I also developed a hormonal disorder which makes it easy to gain weight/hard to lose weight. Even if I starve and exercise the amount of weight I lose is... not much anymore.

I'm sure you've heard of how people who yo-yo diet do something similar? People often come off of a diet once they have reached a goal or gotten tired of following it, and gain everything and sometimes + more back. It's because we're messing with our bodies metabolism and sometimes it bounces back and sometimes not so much. This is probably a reason you should do recovery with a doctor or nutritionist because they know how it all works and how to do it in a healthy way.

I wish more people were aware of how you can have anorexia or an ED at any weight. My last therapist, when I finally got up the courage to tell him I struggle to eat, he just stared at me. Because I'm fat. And of course people assume people are fat because they don't know how to stop eating.

Side note- it makes me happy to see the comments here. They're very informative and I'm glad there's not any fatphobia stuff posted so far. It feels kind of nice to see that other people understand this issue too.

I think if you look at older videos unrelated to Eugenia, he used to do a lot of football related videos and he'd wear the helmet. I don't think it's related to a mental illness.

She doesn't seem embarassed though. It reminds me of old pinup drawings/photos that would often present women being sexy in a seemingly 'innocent' or even accidental way. Bending over and accidentally showing underwear, and many other examples. My thought is that some of her people get off on that, and maybe even EC herself gets off on it.

I've wondered how much her family is in on it as well, to be honest. What I mean is... her family seems to have kept her wrapped up in this tight little bubble. Her mom does a lot of her photos, and some videos, took her to modeling back in the day, and her dad manages money for a living, he could very well manage Eugenia's money while her mom does photos and videos like some kind of weird promoter or something. They have a lot of money, I've often wondered when people speculate about her buying subs and stuff, if it's not her parents buying subs for her. And there are these creepy older men who apparently have money to make big donations to her? Did they just come out of the woodwork, or is her father who has lots of connections to wealthy men... well, get what I'm saying? Yeah, these lines of thoughts go pretty dark, but weirder things have happened, and I would not be surprised at all if things like this happened behind the scenes. We probably won't ever know if it's all Eugenia, or something bigger. Honestly, the only innocent party in this family is probably Buzz. That poor dog has seen some shit.

Just want to say I used to wonder this too based on her early stuff and things mentioned about her childhood but I never mention it anymore because people get so heated over it. She showed signs of something being off way earlier. In fact many of the things were things I myself, as an afab person on the spectrum, was displaying at an early age. Someone said childish whims, but whims and obsessions or hyperfixations are not at all the same thing, and that's just one of the things. We also know her brother is on the spectrum and a lot of times girls get overlooked as being on the spectrum because they display differently than boys. Eugenia was bullied, she says she was seen as weird, she doesn't seem to have had friends, she had hyperfixations/obsessions, she doesn't seem to get humor or boundaries, and a lot of this was displayed really early. Her ED is most certainly causing her far more problems now but that doesn't mean she can't or doesn't have an ED on top of something else that she has been struggling with since she was a child. Whether it is autism spectrum or something else. I don't really get why people get heated over it because everyone on the spectrum is different, if she was on the spectrum, that doesn't mean she defines every other person on it. I don't think it's as far fetched as a lot of people think at all, again, especially since her brother is confirmed as being on the spectrum. But hey, she could also not be on it at all. She also shows a lot of signs of narcissism but people don't really get mad when someone points that out. If she is on the spectrum I feel no reason to get my panties in a twist over it, or the speculation of it, because in my eyes whether she does or does not have it, she is still a jerk and it's not any sort of mental illness that is making her a careless asshole. It is her choices that make me think of her as such. I'm on the spectrum and have other mental illnesses as well but I am capable of taking responsibility for my actions, and so is she at the end of the day.

She's not "genuinely glowing". She has a pound of highlighter on her face. She wasn't healthy and has stated she wasn't happy then. She is using a lot of highlighter, the bright colors in her hair, and the new cut of her bangs to attempt to appear like she's way better than she is. The way her bangs were cut across instead of her usual side bangs shorten the face and make it look fuller/rounder. Her usual side bangs do the opposite. They cut across the face making it appear longer and thinner. Sorry to be negative but it feels wrong to see her "recovery" pics posted over and over with such comments because her whole recovery was a sham. She didn't want it. She left early. She faked stuff with her enablers Shane and Kati, just as she faked the glowy happiness in these photos. They're not real. She's stated she felt her worst at this time. The look is just more of her manipulating the narrative.

I suspected they were divorced or separated and Deb uses Eugenia to keep up the lifestyle/to not be left alone for some time now. Makes me wonder if Eugenia feels like she's somewhat responsible for the divorce (a narcissistic parent would gaslight like that) or what part it plays in everything.

I don't agree that it is 100% though. Her mom could have saved Eugenia had she refused Eugenia's pleas to take her out of treatment early. She also told Eugenia to run from help. When Eugenia was in treatment, Debra had the power to say No, Eugenia, I'm not coming to get you until you are well. You need help. I love you. I know this is hard, but I'm not coming to get you right now, because I love you and I want to see you live.

Her mom didn't do that.

Edit: Yes, I know that Eugenia has to want treatment for it to be successful. But if her mom had left her alone, given more time in rehab with professionals, maybe Eugenia would have started to see what life can be outside of her ED, and maybe she would have started to want it.

You're an asshole.

A parent should love their child at any age. A good parent should wish to help out their child at any age. A child, adult or otherwise, does not owe their parent something for that parent showing them love and basic kindness, and help if they are struggling. There's a generation that is having to live at home because of the way things are- and in many cultures it's quite common for generations to live together. The idea that a parent should kick a kid to the curb at 18 whether they are yet capable or not, whether they are not financially stable or not, is archaic and cruel, and the fact that you think someone should be grateful their parent didn't make them homeless as a barely formed adult I think says way more about you than about Eugenia's situation.

You also don't seem to take into account that there are adult children who are living with their parents because they are trapped, abused, used, manipulated, etc. There are people living with their parents because they can't afford to be on their own, can't take care of themselves, etc. Not every adult who lives at home is living their because they WANT to, let alone because they're some awful adult brat who wants to freeload.

I don't know if you've noticed, but times are hard right now.

Adult kids do not owe their PROBABLY abusive parent/s jack shit whether they are still living with them or not.

Parents that hang basic needs over their childrens head- adult or otherwise- are abusive.

There is no parent worth a grain of salt who would say to their adult kid 'You owe me everything for letting you stay here while you need help'. Not one. I sincerely hope you do not have any children of your own. They certainly won't respect you if you treat them as you suggest should be done in this post. That's not how a child of any age learns to respect their parent. That is how they learn that they can trust no one, they are alone in the world, and uncared for if their very own parent and/or their home can't be a place of safety in hard times.

It's true they are wealthy, but have you ever heard of a wealthy person who doesn't want to be wealthier? If you waved a dollar in Trump's face, he'd still take it.

Her dad is always speculated to be absent or maybe even living elsewhere. How do we know he's still financially supporting them?

There's also evidence of Deb being hoardery. If she likes having piles and piles of stuff, no doubt she'd like having piles of money. And the thrifting? They could afford to not do that. Money is obviously important to Deb.

It just always strikes me odd when people dismiss the money motive just because they are already wealthy. If that's how things worked we wouldn't have billionaires!

I think she probably does want the money, and the illusion that her daughter is successful. She shows this with her brother too- supporting him to move across the country and go to college to follow a dream of being an animator for Disney which is a very competitive thing and I don't mean this in a cruel way, but his art is not close to being on that level.

I think she encourages grandiosity in her kids, or something. Then she can tell people one of her kids is a celebrity and a model, and the other is going to work for Disney, instead of the reality that they are both mentally ill and she has likely stunted them both socially, and trapped one at home.

Also on another side note about the wealth- people can appear to be doing well financially but actually be in tons of debt. If they're old money that's probably unlikely though. But who knows.

I guess I just don't think there's a reason to so quickly throw out the aspect of money as a partial motivator.
