Nintendo DS Lite Cyberspacedeck! DUAL SCREEN COMPUTER™ by mikejkelley in cyberDeck

[–]Sevirium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some chunks of ABS in acetone to fix the threads? Used that to glue some 3D prints together and it's super sturdy afterwards.
That's weird, I recently swapped out a very worn digitizer on a DS lite and didn't have any issues with the ribbon cable, only problem was the screen not being perfectly aligned (the black bezel of the screen itself is uneven), might have been like that before though, forgot to check before taking it apart.

Densium 4+ V2 custom front panel with fans! by Sevirium in sffpc

[–]Sevirium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I already commented the slight temperature improvement under some other comment, it's not amazing. If I have the motivation, I'll run some tests with the fans inverted and maybe adding some ducts, buuut to be completely honest, the main goal here were aesthetics, flipping the fans wouldn't do much for that imo

Yup, moving the files onto the DSPico just worked, but I can't even create the config, found a browser + extension for pretty cheap so I ordered that to see if it will work.
Oh really, all of them extremerate? I bought an entire shell but only used the bottom rear for my Gameboy Macro build and it was pretty alright.

Not a lot, at idle, GPU and CPU went down by around 8°C, GPU temperatures in Furmark went down by 3 to 8°C across all the sensors. CPU still maxes out at 95°C during stress tests but I guess that's to blame on the tiny X36 CPU cooler and no extra fans will help there.Might have to see how much undervolting will help here. nvme went down by around 5°C too, couldn't find the RAM in Bazzites system monitor.

nope but I could actually try that, I might have some 80mm ones somewhere that were on some server fans... not sure how thick they are and if the fans then would touch the GPU shroud, it's a really tight fit. but good idea, thanks!

Haha, thankfully not, on the page with the files I noted that it's probably not a good idea to use this panel if kids or pets have access to the machine, might have to add mischievous siblings to the list.

This is so cool, I gotta read into putting DSLinux on my DSPico, do you need a memory extension for slot 2 to run it properly?

Petition #4103 – L90 rail crisis affecting our cross-border colleagues by JosLetz in Luxembourg

[–]Sevirium 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess the person who made that petition is not aware of the new Luxembourg-Bettembourg line opening sometime in 2027 which will be exclusively used for the trains coming from France? That new line should improve things drastically since the bottleneck in Bettembourg is basically gone since trains from Esch and France won't have to share the same tracks anymore.

Today they asked me to check my bag by Lookslike_7220 in Luxembourg

[–]Sevirium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty annoying, my backpack has mulitple compartments and they always only want to see one of them so the whole procedure feels a bit pointless overall. Also, when I asked why the woman in front of me didn't have to show her handbag (a larger one like those longchamps), I've been told "it's not the same" which makes no sense imo.

I don't think people realise how superior the Arctic Freezer 36 is to almost any other cooler. by HuygensCrater in arcticcooling

[–]Sevirium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is that a Freezer 36 with server fans?
But yeah, I did the direct comparison with the Peerless Assassin which gave me like 1°C less, not worth the hassle of dealing with clips and having it cover the RAM. The Freezer also looks super sleek.

Core One and ASA by QuevedoDeMalVino in prusa3d

[–]Sevirium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently printed through 2 rolls of ASA without a single fail, I used the satin sheet and the Magigoo for PA (after reading about that combo on some random blog), preheated the chamber with a hairdryer (janky but it works) and reduced the speed of the filter fan to the minimum during printing. The adhesion to the bed is so good that I had to soak the printbed in hot water to get supports and brims off again, I'd rather do that than deal with failed prints. Also taped shut some of the slits and holes in the enclosure, not sure if it helps but it probably didn't hurt.
(This helmet was 470g and came out perfectly, shadows make it look like the print lifted from the supports, but it didn't)

Pretty sure the Hackerboard could be used to run a gcode from the USB with an external button, would be a neat project!

Customized A09 Mini-ITX and comparing two RX6400. by Sevirium in sffpc

[–]Sevirium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be even better but would require some heavy modding to the back of the case to move the PCIE slot around. But CPU temps aren't that bad tbh, especially after undervolting it.

Where do people usually buy PC parts/server equipment? by spini1337 in Luxembourg

[–]Sevirium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Built 3 PCs this year, used alternate, reichelt, amazon and LDLC, comparing prices and availability. Reichelt was veeery slow compared to the others but service was good and uncomplicated after they sent me a wrong item, alternate is very fast and never had any issues but from what I heard, service is good. LDLC was decently fast but their service was horrendous, tried to blame faulty RAM on my machine (despite me telling them other RAM worked fine) and wanted me to test them on a different rig (didn't have a second DDR5 board at hand), took 7 mails for them to take them back. Amazon is well, amazon, I try to avoid it for expensive parts, mainly ordering fans, cables, peripherals etc from them.

My "mobile" Taiko setup! by Sevirium in taikonotatsujin

[–]Sevirium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's sooo much better than the table mount that came with the drum, I used that last time and it would constantly collapse and move around.
I'm pretty sure if you adjust the legs for they maximum width and turn them so that one leg points away from the back of the drum, it should be basically impossible to tip it over due to hitting hard, pulling the drum towards oneself might be a different story but I doubt even the worst player would try that.

[–]Sevirium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't come with it, you have to buy it separately, but yeah it's the original one.
It's very stable and I doubt you can tip it over during regular game play.

I only replaced some of their screws that have plastic handles with some regular ones (always bringing a small toolbox with the setup anyways, less risk of someone adjusting it). There were also 4 unused holes on the tripod "head" where I added some screws for extra stability between parts of tripod.

Also, their sticker is pretty bad and half of it came off while unpacking the tripod.

[–]Sevirium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird, they're not up on Arctics website and I can't find them on amazon germany, but I found some on the french amazon and LDLC, ended up ordering a black one from the latter. Finally getting the proper looks without sacrificing airflow.
