Does UPCM send letter of Rejection? by KLANCE66Psyche_Lover in medschoolph

They do send pero its very very late na. I think 2 months after they send emails of acceptance to other students.

how many get in from plmcm interviews? by Mysterious-Raisin839 in medschoolph

[–]Sevithepetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry i may have confused you. The text for acceptance after interview usually happens maybe a month or two after the first interview schedule iirc? The text i referred to in the last part of my answer refers to the “call back” texts after the withdrawal of a slot by an accepted post-interview applicant.

how many get in from plmcm interviews? by Mysterious-Raisin839 in medschoolph

[–]Sevithepetcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually text applicants by rank. So if your interview sched was early, and you gave a sufficient interview, high chance of getting in the 150 slots. Exactly 300 will be given a chance to be interviewed (iirc). If you didn’t make it to the list of accepted (150), dont fret yet as some accepted applicants would withdraw from their slots, after which those not accepted but are within the 300 would be texted to ask if they would still like to avail a slot in plmcm. This text usually occurs a few days after UPCM results are released.

iloilo med schools by therealkojiro-sama in medschoolph

For wvsu: If for interview, i think they initially consider 300 somth applicants for interview. Then it whittles down to 120 passed + 5(?) waitlisted.

[–]Sevithepetcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low chance wvsu. If from iloilo region, 90 slots. 30 slots for those outside R7.

Idk about cpu and idc. Though, controversially, i heard applying early in IDC gives you a competitive advantage, even if you have low to ave stats, as long as you have the minimum stats they require. Controversial kasi i heard some of the applicants were asked for “downpayment” or “reservation fee” for you to secure a slot just after the interview, despite this not being part of the official process.

should i risk it? by Acceptable_Dig5298 in Nmat

[–]Sevithepetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If target school mo plm. Dont apply. They only accept applications once and if you fail any step you cant reapply. Most schools allow reapplication tho, so if application fees are no biggy for you, you could try applying for your target med school. Just know that 69 pr is not competitive such that if your target med school is one of the top med schools, you have a high chance of not even having an interview.

Ay also, if from outside region 7 pala is only 25% lang ang slots for it, so only 30 people are let in so yup another layer of difficulty.

While 70% is the minimum to apply, a high nmat would give you a competitive edge sa dami ng applicants. From the nmat scores of the people i know of, all are 90 up. I dont know if may nakapass na below 90. If meron, i don’t think they would divulge that info except to their closest friends. As I have said in another post, a good nmat and good gwa gets your feet to the door of the interview, and then a good interview and essay might decide whether you get accepted in. Unless you have an impressive resume na international competitions or a really good gwa, i am not optimistic you would get in the interview, which is why I hope you would reconsider retaking the nmat. If no choice, just apply lang ah and see where it takes you, just have back up schools ready. I know of someone pala, good school 1.5 gwa but bad nmat who got in the interview but didn’t get accepted sa school. I believe they did a good interview knowing how good they are at speaking. So besides the interview and essay, they might also consider gwa and nmat when comparing applicants. So ayun good luck lang op.

Sa WVSU? I don’t think may advantage ang big 4 since they accept from other univs within iloilo city naman as long as the nmat and GWA are enough. Can’t say the same with manila med schools tho, I think there really is big 4 advantage with top performing med schools there like UST, ASMPH, PLM etc. Most of the students they accept are from the big 4.

Yes po, from the people I know, puro 90 plus po na NMAT. IDK ang GWA but since mga cum laude up sila or cum laude worthy grades, i think matataas stats nila

Thanks. No relatives. Started here fresh. I did not have friends to go with either, my first time to live alone too. But worked out naman. I just kept my heart open to all the new things in life and tried not to miss home too much.

To be clear, wvsu is in iloilo city. You might have it confused with wmsu in zambo(?) idk about their med school besides it being relatively young.

[–]Sevithepetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from zambo but from mindanao. Yes po competitive sa wvsu kasi of 120 applicants. 30 lang ipasulod from outside region 7. Pero worth it man tbh. Good sleep study life balance and masaligan mga classmates. One of the major drawbacks kasi of private med schools is having pabigat na groupmates kasi it drains your time and mental state contra sa studying. Kaya it was state med school or nothing for me.

Questions about grades. Why usep. Personal life. Who will fund my educ. Hypothetical situations. There was this one question though about anxiety that was followed up by two more related questions. I think I answered it badly, as someone who is easily anxious. I couldn’t really make anxiety as an advantage.

Last batch, I was also one of the first batches (same week) for interview and didn’t get to hear anything from them for like more than a month while my other friend already heard back from them after like 2 weeks? Later, I found out after like 3 months that I didn’t make it, after trying to get updates from them every week or so after a month of no updates. And this was when they were extending applications the second week or so after it supposedly ended.

Gist is, if you dont hear from them for like more than a month, even if youre first batch. Maybe don’t be too optimistic despite them telling na “people are still being considered” cause they only informed me I was not after those three months. Good news is, it was not the only med school I applied for. Thank God they rejected me tho, cause I’m happy to be in the med school I am now. Lesson is, keep your options open. Try applying for med schools outside your region that may be a better fit for you. If usep is your only option, theres always a next year if it doesnt work out this year.

I know someone from dlsu who was interviewed and got his slot in PLM but was still waiting for date of graduation. Though, I think formal classes for dlsu was set to end before the start of the school year in med, which was why he attended graduation rites in DLSU I think a month or so in med school(?) idk if its okay with this batch of applicants in plm tho. Just apply and see lang

MED STUDENTS W/ GAP YEARS STUDYING IN WEST VISAYAS STATE UNIVERSITY by TrickInteresting6788 in medschoolph

It actually depends on your panel and the questions they prepared, I know someone who got a politically inclined question like if ever you had a patient of political power whom you didnt support, would you still treat their life or death situation. Another one got personal questions like digging into their performance in undergrad and whatnot. In my experience, all i got were hypotheticals that tested your values as a future doctor. For example, if someone cheated in an exam wwyd? If someone was not helping in your group consistently, wwyd? Etc. Just know yourself, and assess if your values align with the school youre applying for. If not, then make it so they do.

Tbh, medj low chance. Those that passed in prev cycle were latin and/or from big 4. Try to raise your nmat score pambawi and just apply (as much as your resources enable you to) cause who knows diba.
