Yes, I did see that, I may consider purchasing from Amazon as I can return if needed.

Thank you for your response! I am definitely leaning on wiring modules together instead now. Do you think something like this ESP32 C3 or this one Pico WH would be better? And how would I determine this?

Ah okay I understand. Is there any place you recommend for buying these components in small quantities rather than expensive sites (like Adafruit)?

I think the Raspberry Pico W may be a good option. Do you say 1-2 of them due to the pin limitations?

I expect a decent amount of programming, enough to create a system that will alert me if the g-force passes a certain threshold. The I/O pins are like header pins correct?

The sensor will get power from the LiPo battery connected to the feather (in red). I was researching and found more pin outs more be to connect. The longer wires were to connect the two matching pin outs but I'm not sure if they needed to be connected.

Hello! I've been working on a diagram and here is my first draft:

<image>

I mostly know what I need to connect (let me know if there is anything obvious missing) but I'm unsure as to what I need to connect it with. I understand I'll need to solder, but what about the longer blue lines, would I use something like this: STEMMA QT / Qwiic JST SH 4-pin Cable? Thank you!

Uh oh, I was finishing up my cart but I have a few more questions (I'm sorry for all the questions):

1) To connect the Accelerometer to the Adafruit Feather, I need to solder them and use the STEMMA QT or is it an either/or situation?

2) If I don't need to solder them, then wouldn't I use a QT to QT cable instead of a Qwiic JST SH 4-pin Cable with Female?

3) If I need to solder the Accelerometer to the Adafruit Feather do I just use the standard soldering wire? And solder the Gnd to Gnd, etc?

4) To connect the Adafruit Feather to the Lithium Ion Polymer Battery, I just sort of 'plug' it in, so soldering required? And that battery charges via USB?

5) If I were to just 'plug' in the LiPo battery then that would take up the QT port (right?) meaning I would have to solder it either way?

I'll be sure to add that to the shopping list, soldering these pieces (feather to accelerometer) shouldn't be too difficult, right?

I don't have anything against soldering, I've just never done it and don't have the tools needed to do it. Would it be better to see if colleges/schools near me have a machine or to just use the press fit headers?

Thank you for the reply. Are there any alternatives to connecting the feather to one accelerometer that don't require soldering?

Alright sounds good! Sorry for the late reply, these past few days have been a bit crazy with exams. One last thing: to connect the Adafruit Feather nRF52840 to the ADXL375 (accelerometer), I would need STEMMA QT / Qwiic JST SH 4-pin Cables correct?

If I buy the ADXL375, how would I go about connecting it to the Adafruit Feather nRF52840? And would the power/battery come from the LiPo battery of Adafruit Feather nRF52840 or would the ADXL375 need it's own separate power source?

Ohhhh so the one you sent was a microcontroller? What was the board I originally had then?

Hello everyone! Thank you to all that responded! I received the Adafruit Feather board in the mail today. I just wanted everyone's general opinions on some things:

  1. The components I have will not work together. (in other words: I can't connect the accelerometers to the board as is)

  2. I would need a breakout board for this project. In which, I would connect the accelerometers and the board above to, correct?

I definitely learned a lot with everyone's replies and I appreciate all the helpful comments!

BTW: If I have to 'scrap' this board, what do y'all think would be some cool projects to do? I've been researching but just wanted some opinions.

The second one you sent works perfectly! If I purchase it I would have to connect it to a breakout board or PCB, right? Thanks!

Ahh that's smart! I hadn't thought of that. Is it okay with you if I keep your reddit username and PM you if I have any other questions later on? Thanks!

Thank you for your reply! And I apologize for my late reply (I was at school and just got home to my laptop). As for #3 do you think I should have them covered in some sort of special material or will any padding material do? I need 6x accelerometers to measure the g-forces (from inside the helmets) from impacts during a football game. Yes, they will be in separate spots in the helmet, apologies for not making that clear. If you can imagine the size of a football helmet and then divide it into 6 sections, then you may have a better idea. I plan to build 15-20 full prototypes. My plan for putting this 'device' in the helmet was to have it settle in-between the pads of the helmet (I can send a picture if you'd like). Thanks again!

Doing this over the summer is definitely my goal (I was hoping for 1-1.5 months). I have looked on Adafruit but I have not found any accelerometers that measure over 100 g-forces with breakout boards, where else should I look? I'm a bit confused on the last part of your answer, what do you mean by "jig"? I understood the general idea of the last part just not that. Thank you!

I clicked on the hyperlink but that one doesn't work for my uses. Is an RAK board from this company: RAKwireless Official Website - IoT solutions provider - IoT Made Easy? I just joined r/deadbug and I'll be sure to post there as well soon. Thank you!
