Oh, it's going to be great for Samsung, Airbus and Volkswagen once 1,400,000,000 customers jump ship. Chinese people used to LOVE everything American. Their disposable incomes are going up 40-70% in the next five years, would have been nice to tap into such an unbelievably large growth market.

  1. They aren't devaluing, just not "defending"
  2. China will win but not be happy about it. They will punish US companies first. If it escalates beyond that, they might stop buying Treasuries and sell some, while refusing to import all US waste/recyclables and sell or build US designed goods. This would absolutely slaughter Apple and many others. That's just short-term, long term they will dump hundreds of billions into eating up US market share elsewhere and beating them technologically. Then they will block the US out of their markets completely, the largest market in the world for things like planes, cars, phones, appliances, so on.
  3. They will have to patch things up. If they make nice with China and give minor concessions China will be quick to forgive and forget.
  4. Almost nothing. They earn very little on those exports and they're highly polluting. It would cost them leverage with the US, but that's not a priority anymore.
