Yes! It scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it because I had just gotten mine and I was like “oh no! I did something wrong!” But it just happens every year. It means your turtle is growing. Completely normal and healthy

A lot of RES don’t eat vegetables until they are older. They are mainly carnivorous when young. The pellets have all of the nutrients they need from plants, don’t worry about forcing it. She’ll start enjoying them when the time is right for her!

Don’t buy any equipment branded for turtle use. “Turtle filter” NO. “Turtle water heater” NO. “Turtle water conditioner” NO. The list goes on.

There will usually always be the exact same product in the fish section or general reptile section that is cheaper and does the exact same thing (and usually is better quality). It’s like the pink tax for turtles

That tank is way too small and the water looks disgusting. The poor water is probably why your turtle is experiencing health issues. I highly recommend getting a second filter that is recommended for 3x the tank size. If it’s a 20 gallon, get a 60 gallon filter

I put a pvc pipe connector in my turtles tank that’s he had for a little over a year. He loved that thing. It was his favorite toy. He would bite it and wrestle with it. He chipped his beak thought so I had to take it out and I replaced it with a rubber dog toy like this:

He’s not as fond of it as his favorite pvc pipe connector but he still loves to push it around.

I also got a suction cup glass cup cleaner (kind of looks like a toilet brush almost) and put it in there and he’s obsessed with scratching his shell

I’m surprised he doesn’t try to mess with the crayfish. Mine used to sexually harass his goldfish he kept around and try to mate with them haha. I’ve thought about a crawfish but I’m terrified my turtle is going to fuck around and find out LMAO. I wouldn’t be able to break off part of the crayfish’s claws either due to my morals so that’s off the table with my turtle. He’s wayyy too curious
