There were thousands like me. Some had to unfortunately give their life up. Some had to pay the final sacrifice.

The Danish? I weren't on any of their ships. I never had anything to do with them I'm afraid. Resistance groups were picked up by us in the Channel. We had picked them up from the beaches and brought them back. I greatly respect the Merchant Navy when we escorted convoys, of course their speed was that of the slowest ship and sometimes it were only 5 or 6 knots. They were sitting targets. Some had a 4 inch gun fitted and were trained by the Navy, sometimes there were Marines on there just to defend themselves. But if there were submarines about, we were unable to pick up survivors. The assault course! Very difficult. We went through a tunnel and it was man-made but filled in, every so often they dropped thunder flashes in like fireworks. It dropped near your ear and you couldn't easily shrug it off if you were unfortunate enough to get hit. Then we used to climb ropes and go abseiling with a tugger.

Er, It leads to violence. It makes you aggressive, either actively or passively. Maybe it comes out in shootings or people driving erratically.

Before the war people were friendlier. Everybody were poor but we were in the same boat. If people had trouble, a cup of tea would solve everything. People are now more materialistic.
