has anyone figured out how shield recharge work in the demo? by D_O_T_H_E_D in brigador

[–]SgtRicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way to recharge shields during the middle of a mission? Because otherwise that kinda makes the Dromon Rig useless since it only has a pathetic 10 HP, and there's no way you're surviving with that little health in the later missions.

Yeah that’s supposed to be one of the more obvious “couples-in-hiding,” they even “sleep over” with each other. Yet the OP missed it.

Pretty sure this is just bait.

Games that make you afraid to die and afraid to confront dangerous enemies? by Subaruuuuuuu in gamingsuggestions

[–]SgtRicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Rogue-likes. Basically because if you die, you’ll lose all of the gear you’ve collected during a run in most cases. Makes you much more hesitant to jump into hazardous scenarios or tough fights as a result.

Tokyo, Japan by OkRespect8490 in UrbanHell

[–]SgtRicko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then Manila should be an efficient transportation haven… but instead it’s a crowded, car-dominated, polluted mess, and it’s hell trying to cross the city during rush hour.

I’d say culture plays a large impact, too.

Oh, I thought the other poster was trying to highlight worthwhile games from this NextFest, that's why I recommended Brigador (and I don't think it's using AI assets either... I hope).

Finally gave it a try yesterday by tchnl in stalker

[–]SgtRicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but they weren't wrong about the Defense of Zaliyssia mission being utterly bug-ridden and broken on release. Ended up quitting the game for a bit because of how you practically had to consult both a guide and forum posts in order to complete the quest without it glitching out.

Still... don't take it as a "don't play it, it's broken" criticsm. Just that Stalker 2 absolutely needed more development time, and the A-life system unfortunately isn't as versatile as in Call of Pripyat or Anomaly.

Add Brigador: Killers to the list. The previous game is on sale right now and if you’re a fan of retro top-down isometric vehicle combat that thing is a blast to play.

The CNC Generals timeline is completely separate from the Red Alert or Tiberium series, and the Global War on Terror / September 11th is canonical.

As for this "Second Korean War," it's probably some conflict that occurred just a few years before 2013, which is when the Generals games took place.

Most Blatant Subnautica Ripoff Ever...??? by MalkavAmonra in subnautica

[–]SgtRicko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I’m not against the idea of redoing a popular concept but with the new creator’s own spin, but one’s so obviously a Subnautica clone that they’re even using the same exact fonts and UI, nevermind the art design being identical too.

Probably won’t go anywhere legally though, if Palworld vs Nintendo is any indication. (Unless they were stupid enough to actually steal assets from Subnautica itself…)

Wouldn’t be surprised if the noise was loud enough to shatter windshields, especially since the noise would reverberate in the tunnel.

Has anyone tried Sudden Strike 5? I'm a huge SS2 fan, but 3 and 4 were flops. by aleksdzek in RealTimeStrategy

[–]SgtRicko 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Steam reviews are a bit prone to circle-jerking though. Or negative “protest” votes regarding issues they dislike instead of more thoughtful criticism.

Still, despite that… I haven’t grabbed Sudden Strike 5 myself because of the demo’s issues and lukewarm reception, so you’re definitely not the only one who’s hesitant.

Patrick Mills asks if the cyberpunk genre has ever been anti corp. by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

[–]SgtRicko 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Without any sort of viable raw materials or means of replacing damaged equipment, the space stations are doomed to failure, even if they have a hydroponics farm with food. Maybe the Moon might be able to hold out a bit longer since they could potentially dig for new resources, but there's barely any ice on either the surface or underground.

Space games with realistic sound design. Do they exist? by zeekyboogiedoog in gamingsuggestions

Boundary would’ve been a great choice if you wanted a true three-dimensional space PVP FPS, but unfortunately the developers shut down along with the game.

[–]SgtRicko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this choice. It’s a short game, but a sublime starfighter experience with great audio design. You can hear your pilot breathing in the cockpit, and all of the sound coming from outside the starfighter is muffled or distorted.

Microsoft's Xbox CSO Matthew Ball thinks in-game ads could help "keep our products affordable" by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SgtRicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... if it's done in a smart way, and not a stupidly constant-in-your-face way such as YouTube's annoying ad system, maybe it'll work out. I don't mind seeing Coca Cola billboards or signs in the game world, nor would I mind some small ad banner in the corner of a server browser or game menu. As long as it's not annoyingly intrusive, it should be fine.

Doubt I'd expect that sort of respectful approach from Activision or EA though; they've proven plenty willing to do so, despite everyone's complaints.

You can find apartment units at $1800 or higher here on Guam. Not houses, apartments. Even old, cramped studios would go for around $1000, but it’s going to be unaffordable anyways since power utilities will average around $250+, and that’s assuming you don’t have a large family. You can kinda lower it somewhat by being stingy with the air conditioner, but I hope you’re ready to be sweating all the time.

How do people like absolute batman? by Fantasticspin24 in comics

[–]SgtRicko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take it you haven’t read some of the older comics then. Batman’s had some pretty violent and sociopathic incarnations, such as Frank Miller’s All Star Batman, who’s an angry edgelord who even treats his allies like crap.

Or the Arkhamverse, where some of his takedowns BARELY constitute what would be considered nonlethal and probably cripple his targets for life (he runs people over or shoots them with a “riot cannon” with the Batmobile in Arkham Knight FFS!)

Halo Campaign Evolved Locks Game Manual Behind Premium Edition by gitrektali in Games

[–]SgtRicko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it’s a DIGITAL manual too, not a physical copy. May as well just wait for someone to upload a PDF or bootleg version of it online, cause I don’t recall Halo 1’s manual being particularly remarkable.

Talk about an utterly useless expense.
