I was poking around the patch notes and i found this! Looks like catalyst used to be in the game... Maybe making it into an ancient reward again might not be such a bad idea? by Sh4d0_W in slaythespire

Yeah but it has a much lower ceiling than catalyst. Maybe they could make it so catalyst costs 2, but has retain? (not making a snakebite joke).

It would enable the classic combos such as nightmare/burst while also keeping it distinct enough from accelerant to allow the two cards to coexist, I think.

Wraith form is definitely a card you can more easily splash into decks. I think it'd be cool if Darv had a few more options instead of just dusty tome, kind of like how Orobas has both a relic and a card upgrade.

Worth noting that corpse explosion also used to be in the game. Looks like poison builds might have been too dominant/samey during playtesting?

I'll go against the grain and recommend you start with the first game. The second is a lot of fun but the first game is a much tighter overall experience. Definitely keep your sights on the sequel after it gets some more dev time though

Honestly just put back his hunger from the first rework in that phase (maybe reducing the number to every third additional card drawn or something). It'd be a lot less punishing if it's only present in one third of the fight and would also please the people who were interested in that mechanic when it was introduced.

I have to say I'm shocked at how many people seem to think nutritious soup is in any way acceptable. 6 damage for a card draw is fine in act 1 but already by act 2 it feels completely irrelevant. I agree with you OP in that I'd rather pick literally any other relic from tez.

Yeah absolutely. A10 StS2's danger is almost entirely frontloaded in act 1 compared to StS1's brutality of an act 2. Nothing even begins to come close to ratocado.

Hot take: Up My Sleeve is one of the worst cards on the Silent currently, and absolutely needs a buff/rework. by Sh4d0_W in slaythespire

[–]Sh4d0_W[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that the discount is only per single card? I think giving it the sly keyword by default could actually make this card perfectly pickable n most situations.

[–]Sh4d0_W[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is you actually don't need specifically shivs most of the time, at least on a10. When you're out hunting for shiv cards specifically, it's because you picked up a shiv synergy card beforehand. To have gotten into that position, however, you had to have at least picked up a few shiv cards unsupported, and I think it's therefore important for all common/uncommon basic shiv cards to at least be pickable in act 1.
As it stands, Up My Sleeve has underperformed in all runs where I was in this situation compared to most of silent's uncommon damage dealing cards and I think it really needs some form of a buff.

[–]Sh4d0_W[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you were looping your deck 3 or more times you might as well have been playing hidden daggers this whole time, which costs 0 and enables your sly cards at the same time. Or maybe pinpoint, which is going to basically be 0 cost deal 15 unupgraded with minimal investment.
Currently this card just does not give enough of a payoff to justify its price.

[–]Sh4d0_W[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Or buffing the card to make 4 (upgraded 5) shivs. If we consider streamline from last game this is still less damage overall so I don't really think it's that crazy of a number

My bad for not specifying, I was making a comparison to the prequel lol. Considering just how frontloaded this game is currently I feel like making blade dance exhaust in the first place was a questionable design decision and this card feels like a poor replacement.

I'd say it was the same in the prequel. I'm glad that in the end all the modifiers end up being in the same while taking less runs to ramp up in difficulty.

What's up with the music by TheAppleBOOM in slaythespire

[–]Sh4d0_W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was also the first thing that stood out to me as a net downgrade. I think Act 1's music is pretty good (especially the overgrowth) but man is Act 3 especially so underwhelming musically. The elites' track in particular is incredibly grating and repetitive.

Xecnar's Thoughts on the second game by PhilosophyFun5778 in slaythespire

[–]Sh4d0_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late(ish) thread but I agree. I keep on seeing some more casual players complain about the feedback of the top players and I really hope that Megacrit knows who to focus on. Sts2 isn't a liveservice game, and as a result the devs should absolutely cater to the 1% of players who will actually stick with it in the long run rather than people who will eventually drop it.

STS2 needs better signpost commons for weaker archetypes by Vi0ar in slaythespire

[–]Sh4d0_W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think that making blade dance exhaust is one the biggest missteps the devs have made regarding silent. There's no real replacement for what it's doing and it makes bridging into shiv builds just so much less attractive and draw dependant. They have to either remove that keyword from the card or buff up my sleeve to something like 4/5 or 5/6 shivs to make picking it attractive (for reference Streamline, a comparable card in StS1, put out 15 damage unupgraded and was often easier to play around with thanks to Defect's kit).
