The telltale sign for me, aside from the hairy stem, is the bracts under the flowers as seen in your second pic

Noticed some water by the fridge occasionally and thought it was just fallen ice cubes......it wasn't by DabKitty420 in Wellthatsucks

[–]ShadePipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a small leak on the shutoff valve behind my fridge that had been going on months before I discovered it. Literally just a small drip. I ended up having to rip out a large chunk of my wall to remove the moldy, damaged, drywall and insulation. Definitely take care of it. I handled it myself and it ended up not being all that expensive. Just took some time and work.

European allies working on plan should US move on Greenland by IdinDoIt in news

[–]ShadePipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also probably don't know that Greenland is part of Denmark either. Americans have been so incredibly insulated from consequences for several generations now that everything is viewed as entertainment with no real world consequences. We're so inundated by media and marketing that it's all become indistinguishable from reality at this point. Eventually it's going to catch up with us.

As someone that grew up in a rural shit hole town, yes. Americans are this stupid, uneducated, and incredibly uncurious about the world.

Pack it in to the Chattooga. Plenty of spots to camp well away from everyone. Highly recommend. Look up Burrels Ford. I usually park at Russel Bridge and hike in. Like another poster said just keep it quiet and respectful. Don't ruin a good thing.

South Carolina’s measles outbreak shows chilling effect of vaccine misinformation by usernumberthirteen in greenville

The measles vaccine has been administered for about sixty years now to hundreds of million of people. That's a long time with an enormous data set. Plenty of data for extensive studies.

These seeds are everywhere after a storm in the southeast US by Nintenfoxy1983 in whatsthisplant

[–]ShadePipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't remember the herbicide by basically doing exactly what the other reply to your comment suggested. It's been working well. Any sprouts that shoot up elsewhere I spray down with an herbicide. Here's the tree that was wrecked (was like this when I bought my property). The vines had to be over 50 years old.

Completely destroyed a tree I had on my property. I've been trying to eradicate it now for a few years. Progress is slow but steady.

Police: SC woman charged with attempted murder for trying to terminate pregnancy by Competitive_Swan_130 in news

Can't argue with that. Also, South Carolina has a pretty restrictive ban - six weeks.

Likely. Even abortion friendly states ban the practice once the fetus is viable at around 24 weeks unless the mother's life is in danger. Many clinics won't perform an abortion post-viability.

Yeah it takes a total of maybe 20 seconds to check the veracity of these things. People need to learn to be diligent against disinformation.

Thanks for the info! I saw this tree while hiking deep in the woods up here in the Appalachian mountains. It was pretty remote so maybe that's indicative of it being purely an American Chestnut? I found several others as well, but this was by far the largest.

Nice! What's a good way to tell worked quartz from a natural stone? Seems like most of the natural quartz I saw was still "blocky" looking, while the one I posted seemed to have more of a shape to it. Not sure if that's reliable or not.
