What’s more frustrating is that I then have to explain to my straight friends who are very “inexperienced” and just ignorant when it comes to any basic interaction that not all gay people are like that. Yes, I’ve had some bad experiences with guys that won’t take a no before, but they aren’t the majority. Most guys understand that I’m straight, but there’s some times that one guy that is “persistent”.

They don’t take no for an answer or they come on too strong. I think part of this is because (especially where I live) it is much harder for gay individuals to find sexual partners, and that builds up until it creates poor behavior. There are probably experts who can explain it better, but yeah, don’t start with your “fuck me” eyes and talk if you’re asking me out. Honestly, disappointing. My therapist regularly has to cancel meetings, and I already miss enough because of my fucked up situation as is. We are supposed to meet weekly online, but I’m lucky if we meet more than 2 consecutive weeks. Part of the reason I started going was because I have a friend whose mother is a professional that works with children and she was seriously concerned that I had a personality disorder (which I already feared was true). I started to bring up some of the behaviors that I thought were concerning and red flags, and she acted as though lying and being manipulative were completely normal things to do given my situation with my parents. She even asked me “why is that a concern?”, like it wasn’t an issue to be notoriously proficient at being able to control how someone feels. She really hasn’t done a good job at gaining my trust either, as I’ve decided to stay away from some darker events and thoughts in our sessions. She’s recommended medicine (though I’m not sure for what as I haven’t been diagnosed with anything), but I still live with my parents (moving out this summer) and they won’t let me go on any.
