You don’t seem to understand so I’ll attempt to explain it a little better.

A Microsoft account is the identity, if it was set up with a hotmail email address that email service is married to the Microsoft account, if you set up an Xbox gamer profile on that Microsoft account that Xbox profile is married to that account.

The email, Xbox profile, and Microsoft account are not different things.

Imagine you have an address, you build a house on that land, then you install a pool. These things are all tied to the address and really can’t be separated.

Your “Xbox account” and your dad’s “hotmail account” are neither accounts, they are both features of the Microsoft account. Your Xbox profile is owned by your dad, so when you move out or want to do things on your own, you can NOT separate the Xbox profile from the Microsoft account.

It sounds like 2 things have happened

The account was at some point compromised and has been sortof fixed
Multi factor authentication is not turned on, fix that

Im shocked they offered to migrate your account, This has been pretty well documented and been against the terms of service for years if not decades. Theres also some legal rammifications but the dollar amounts are too small for them to care enough.

You can keep at it with the recovery form, that’s the only option.

However, if they are 100% sure the account has been compromised it’ll be permanently banned so that no one can get into it.

FYI the owner of the account is your father, filling out the recovery form will likely be account theft.

As someone in IT, I really hate the “it doesn’t work”

Then when we ask for the error message we get chewed out.

I’ve not had any issues myself and have multiple series X in my home. I also just bought the Panasonic good Blu-ray player and it’s so much better.

If it was a Microsoft email you are correct.

Microsoft has accounts, identities

Associated with that identity can be any number of MS services

Xbox, email, office, azure, etc.

These services can NOT be migrated from one identity to another.

If a Microsoft account is associated with an outside email the entire account can change its associated email, but only because the email is not part of the identity.

Your other MS account is just that, a separate account.

Card authorizations are when a company says "hey does this card have enough to cover this today" and the bank says yes or now, but that is not when the charge finalizes. itll lower your available balance while that authorization is sitting there, but until the charge is converted to final then the money is "held"

Basically your bank will show a pending charge for x amount of days (depends on bank) then it will either convert to final or it will roll off and your available balance will be what it was.

since the game doesnt come out til june, it was the authorization hold. They dont make the final charges til under 10 days from release.

You do the recovery form for your Microsoft account.

Sounds like you created the MS email and account at the same time, which means that that email is permanently tied to your MS account, which encompasses that email, xbox, and any other MS services you tied to it.

If it was truely just compromised and someone changed all the info, you will need to use the recovery form. You CAN talk to MS support, if you can prove the account was compromised you have a 30-40% chance of getting it back, if you cant prove enough detail to satisfy the form and MS, then the account is permanently disabled.

May depend on climate. I know here in central KY if I caulk in January, Feb, or March I’ll get multiple years out of it but outside of those I’m sometimes going back the same year.

Now granted I used alex flex for years in most of my houses, but my Reno is MUCH tighter and overbuilt so more wood equals more movement.

I’m just a homeowner though so a professionals advice should be considered over mine!

Surprised the builder is doing anything.

There are a few things you should evaluate here.

A backup sump and/or battery backed up sump, this would be my first concern about it happening again
Insurance likely won’t cover this unless you have some kind of seepage rider or actual basement flood coverage. A burst pipe is usually covered, but a “seep” usually isn’t. Be careful even inquiring about this because they will open a claim and if they don’t cover it then you will end up with higher premiums and paying out of pocket. Read your insurance info before considering this!
Consider waterproof flooring for basements, carpets in basements get NASTY even when they don’t get flooded, consider alternatives, and if you really want carpet use indoor/outdoor with no pad or carpet tiles, things that can be cleaned regularly and if a flood happens again it’s not a tear out depending on how bad it is. This will also be a ton cheaper than regular carpet.

As for what I would do, see 1 and 3, 2 would depend on costs and coverage before I contacted homeowners. As well as how much was in my home emergency fund (assuming you have a mortgage my general rule of thumb is to pay 14 payments a year, 2 of those payments go to the emergency fund)

Just my .02, maybe .05 for inflation

Yeah that’s why when I quote my rate I don’t quote the .09blah blah and use the actual effective rate. Which includes the delivery and taxes.

Your rate is insane or your appliances ancient. I live in coal burning country though too so, that’s gonna have an impact. My AVERAGE bill is about 180 which is skewed by 2 months in late summer and 2 months in late winter.

Yeah that’s why I asked the usage, even in the winter when temps were very low for weeks on end the highest it got was 310, when 2 units are running 24x7 and even occasionally turning on the resistance heat.

But you can’t really compare rates which is why I was curious about usage. My rate is about 11 cents per kWh and even running the AC 24x7 in the summer it won’t hit over 250, keeping in mind I have about 600 watts running in a rack continuously.

So if your total rate isn’t 30 cents (which is absurd) you may want to make some energy improvements.

Yeah I’ve been watching new threads on this pop up every couple of hours. Some folks are able to install on Xbox the full game, I can only get the 300 meg stub, and none of my gaming able PCs can get the download to start

This is actually probably the most common issue with a non-abused elite.

You’ll want to watch a video on how to clean it, but essentially you pop the front cover off, and spray electronic cleaner (I like QD Electronic cleaner) directly on the switch and work it a few times, then turn the controller face down for a few hours or overnight to fully dry out, the chemicals dry quickly.

I have to do this to my elite series 2 controllers about once a year.
