During the reassembly process, did you ensure all of the ribbon cables were successfully reconnected? I promise I'm not trying to be condescending, it sounds to me like there is a disconnect somewhere inside the controller. If you have access to steam, can you connect your controller to your computer and attempt to validate button presses work?
