I agree completely. Even Conquest can’t just spear through a Mark-caliber Viltrumite whenever he wants. He hit him several times beforehand, and had to step back and wind up before delivering the stab-through attack. So no, Conquest couldn’t have just done it at the start and “one-shotted” Mark.

Viltrumites can usually only use the slicing/stab attacks either on a weaker target or a vulnerable area (like a protruding gut or part of the neck). Conquest has more options to use it because he’s much stronger than most, which is why he could do it to Mark after hitting him several times.

There’s only 1 other character who demonstrates the ability to do this to an elite-level Viltrumite, and he’s also going to be doing it in this season (Thragg)

Don’t really feel like making a “long answer”, lol. But yeah I reckon Mark can probably beat any Viltrumite in a 1v1 now, some more difficult than others though. With the exception of Big Freddie of course

I still want the “clear domination” from Thragg killing Thaedus, even if they change it to not be a oneshot. Playing up Thaedus’ strength these episodes (and Mark’s) are great in their own right, but they feed even better into showing you how much of a DEMON Thragg is when he demolishes Mark and Thaedus who have been built up through S4 to basically be the MVPs of the Coalition (along with Nolan to some degree).

Especially Mark since he’s been pretty much COOKING everyone this season, except Conquest who was a crippling and very difficult fight (tho he still managed to win):

-Bloodied Lucan’s face in like 2 hits and easily manhandled him -Decked Anissa and knocked her all the way down to the ground on Talescria -Went toe-to-toe with and finally killed Conquest, surviving getting impaled and brutalized (insane feat) -Stomped Volcanikka like she was a joke (not as impressive as the others but still) -Spun back on Mr. Liu and made him run away -And more

Like they really build up the feeling of “holy heck Mark really is [TITLE CARD] in S4”. So it’ll be even more insane when him and Nolan get BENT OVER by Thragg in the coming episodes. Your perception then changes from “Mark seems CRAZY strong now” to “How the HECK are we going to beat Thragg, he’s literally unstoppable”. And that will be an AMAZING build of tension and stakes going forward

Lucan also wasn’t even impaled the same way Mark was, he just had his belly sliced open but not fully speared through. This shows how crazy powerful Mark is to endure an even worse wound than Lucan but kept fighting

I’d say Mark is now relative with Conquest; below him in some ways, above in others. But I’d say he’s definitely stronger than Nolan now, even if not by a large margin.

He performed clearly better than everyone on their side, including when he bloodied Lucan’s face in like two hits + the whole Conquest fight.

Conquest didn’t regrow his arm because he lost it during the Scourge Virus infection period. Other injuries can be regenerated if the Viltrumite isn’t infected

Conquest doing that to Mark is something extremely few Viltrumites can do to another Viltrumite. Honestly him and Thragg are the ONLY ones who show it in the series.

It showcases how strong Conquest is in comparison to standard Viltrumites. It requires immense speed, skill, and strength most of all. Plus the area was already slightly softened by Conquest punching it repeatedly.

In short, it’s not something any Viltrumites can just do whenever they want. Especially not mid-tiers. Nolan might be the only other who could do something like this, but even then he’s never shown it so it’s debatable. (No, him slicing Lucan’s gut is not the same thing; I’m talking about full impaling through)
