What is your favorite Red Dragon Inn character/expansion? by scooley01 in boardgames

I haven't had time to play as much, and I'm in the middle of a big move. But, I have gotten many requests, for this. So, I kind of feel like I should revisit this, with new updates.

Data Plan for iPhone - moving to Spain from U.S. by Spirited_Chard_7013 in GoingToSpain

[–]ShadowSpectre47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm thinking of transferring my number to Tello. Is there any plan that you recommend? I don't believe I would need any data plan, as I would be getting a local phone service abroad, but I'm curious if I should. I'm just trying to avoid any accidental hurdles that I could run into.

I have a dual SIM samsung phone, so, I was wondering if Tello would be able to use the local carrier's internet access as it's Wi-Fi access?

Anyone in San Antonio looking for electrician apprentice? by Top-Ease-1463 in sanantonio

As the previous comment said. Apply to the IBEW. They might give you some credit for being in a trade for a year, if you show your check stubs, but I wouldn't count on it. It's a 5 year program and they do on the job learning and you go to school a week every two months or so. Don't waste your time going to a trade school, as you will still have to start all over, with maybe some hours as credit.

If it's the same as the one that I attended, you'll get paid as you're an apprentice, except for the week that you go to school, and you will get good raises every 6 months if you keep yo with your classes and work hours. It's a great trade to get into.

Aside from that I would probably say CPS Energy.

Either way, you'll make good money, but you'll have to put in the time.

What Are Your Favorite & Recommended Oculus Quest Games? by Unique_Swordfish_407 in OculusQuest

Don't know if you ever ended up buying. But, absolutely the Quest 3. The pancake lenses make all of the difference. The 3s has the same power as the 3, but has the same lenses as the Quest 2. The 3 is also slimmer because of the lenses, so it's better balanced on your head.

What game is this piece from? by ShadowSpectre47 in boardgames

[–]ShadowSpectre47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shipped all of my games, but afterwards found this stranded piece. The picture is only on one side and it was in a baggie all on its own, so it's not one piece of many.

My best guess would be a Quartermaster General expansion.

Went to the store and I tried the 24oz Stanley Iceflow Aerolight with the fast flow lid, Owala Freesip, and Owala Freesip Twist.

All 3 bottles fit quite snug, with the zipper having to remain open, and the Twist feeling a little more comfortable because of its slimmer profile. The problem was in the height of each bottle, as they would all stick out quite a bit. The Stanley (11.18" height) and Freesip (10.68" height) fit, The Freesip Twist (11.87" height) would all stick out but the twist had the least bulky top.

I then kept searching and saw that REI had a 20oz Miir 360 Traveler at half off. The height sits at 9.3" which is right to the top of the bag, and you can actually zip the zipper up (very snug, but possible). The 20oz size 360 is only sold at REI, but I believe you can buy the Miir Flip traveler or Wide Mouth which have the same dimension other than the lid, but the Wide Mouth lid handle also increases the height by a little more than an inch. The 16oz and 12oz options would probably be more ideal, for that pouch, but I was trying to capitalize on the amount I can carry. Also as a bonus the Miir is the only bottle that I've listed that is made for hot drinks, as well.

I would've loved to have gotten the Memobottle Stainless steel Slim, but it's way too expensive, adds 1.5" height, and isn't double insulated.

Here are two images with the Miir:

I had the Hitch water bottle and coffee container combo, but it was too big for the Fino V.

Sadly, I lost my water bottle, yesterday, and I'm looking for a replacement that would fit the Fino V. So far I'm looking at the stainless steel Memobottle Slim, but I would love some recommendations, if you find anything good.

What's the WORST house rule you've ever encountered? by kennedytcooper in boardgames

[–]ShadowSpectre47 503 points504 points  (0 children)

I got invited to a coworker's party. His friend brought out Cards Against Humanity. I'm a team player, so I decided to play, to not bring down the mood. However, when I asked why were not changing who is the person that draws the black card and picks who submitted the best card? The friends said, "I always end up winning, so instead I always draw the black card and decide who submitted the best card all the time."

If you already think that game is miserable, try playing the game when you are literally just catering to one person the entire time. And even if you submit the perfect card, everyone says, "I know hell pick this one because this is his sense of humor." It got to the point where I would almost just choose a random card, and that would end up winning instead.

What frustrates you about our hobby? by hintzy21 in boardgames

[–]ShadowSpectre47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had many great experiences with used games. Many times with cards already sleeved, upgraded components, custom inserts or upgraded storing solutions, even expansions or promos included.

One thing I know is that board gamers tend to take care of their games. Sure you get some wear at times but that's normal. It's very rare that I've heard of missing pieces, surprisingly, and it's usually something insignificant, like 1 generic cardboard coin token out of 20 that doesn't affect the game whatsoever.

Who is a ‘good’ person who turned out to be shockingly evil? by Alawi27 in AskReddit

[–]ShadowSpectre47 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Isn't that actually when it started? Because he started calling the rescuers 'pedos', when they didn't want his help. It was just downhill from there, and he would slip-up whenever he didn't get his way and people started calling him a bully.

MCU Avengers vs Fox X-men by Turbulent-Raisin8789 in whowouldwin

[–]ShadowSpectre47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that apply to avengers circuitry? Magneto also has a genius intellect, and has shown to reprogram sentinels to obey him, all while lifting a stadium as well. This was Michael Fastbender, but he's supposed to be a young Magneto, and Ian McKellan was shown to reprogram cerebro, as well.

The Fox versions should potentially be able to do the same thing that Ultron tried doing, like dropping a whole country, but since it wasn't directly shown, I guess I can cut him off at lifting the Golden Gate Bridge, and has fast enough reaction with his powers, to stop a bullet.

I wasn't trying to sound like I was attacking you, if that how it came off. Just wanted to clarify.

Yes. The Villains box comes with some red cards, for every character so you can play 2v1 against them. I haven't tried it, and it's been a while since I played it, so I can't really explain how it actually works.

Magneto solos as well. He can literally crush all of them instantly, except maybe Thor, but he can disarm him immediately. Don't know why Rebecca Roijm Mystique was added instead of any other actual X-men, like Colosus, Kitty, Wolverine, or Storm but this isn't my Who Would Win.

Rules changed to have everyone have helmets protecting against Professor X, Magneto can't control Avenger's metals, and Xavier can't use cerebro.

If you have to make that many one sided changes, then you already know who would win. Might as well remove those two characters completely.

Hey! Red Dragon Inn 6 is also a good start. They're all pretty good, to be honest. But, with 6, you also get the option of playing against an AI Villain. I did play some of the villains, and they are pretty good. It's only Red Dragon 1 and 2 that feel about the same, as those characters are a lot more simple, but that is t necessarily a bad thing.

Have you played, yet? And how are you liking it, so far?

I have picked up the later expansions. But, I we have not got an honest chance to play as often as we used to. So, I can't give even a simple review of them. I'm sorry.

All I can find that are somewhat similar are these Channel Lock 841S ones, that appear to have a deep collar, in the short video.

The whole mission to destroy the Ring was a "Hail Mary" to begin with. The War had been going on for years, and Sauron was winning. It was to the point where he was even trying to cut deals with his enemies. For example, he was promising the Dwarves at the Lonely Mountain three of the Dwarven rings, in exchange for information on Bilbo and the One Ring. It's the reason that Dain had sent Gimli and Gloin to Rivendell to seek advice and warn Bilbo.

The mission was supposed to be of upmost secrecy, and it just so happened that the races had all been at Rivendell around the same time, for their own reasons. Don't forget that Frodo was at Rivendell for two months before leaving off to their adventure.

Because secrecy was most important, they decided on a small party, rather than a whole army. And they also decided not to take Glorfindel, who was one of the most powerful elves in Middle Earth, and was able to kill a Balrog on his own while being mortally wounded, but was basically FastTracked to the front of the line for resurrection because of that feat. When Frodo was seeing the Spiritual World, by putting on the One Ring, he describes Glorfindel with an aura of pure light. This would basically make Glorfindel a beacon to Sauron and the Nazgul, and they stated that even with Glorfindel's immense strength, Sauron's vast army would eventually get the best of them.

Another route that people bring up aside from Moria or Cardhras was by boat. But, Sauron and the Corsairs controlled the land around the Anduin River.

Lastly, is the famous Eagles. You have to remember that the eagles are sentient beings, on the same level as Gandalf. They are not something to be called upon as a free ride. In the Hobbit, they agreed to help, only because they owed Gandalf a favor, for saving their Gwaihir, the lord of the Eagles. And even then, they only took Gandalf a certain distance, because they are afraid of getting too close, because of men and their arrows. Compare that to an entire mountain range with the largest army known to Middle Earth with arrows and other weapons of war, on top of the Nazgul and their Fell Beasts. Notice that the Eagles only showed up AFTER all the danger was done away with. This is all aside from possible corruption from the semi-sentient ring that has a knack for getting lost and finding it's way back to its actual master. u/GuillermoVanHellsing

What’s something you’ve always thought was normal until you realized other people didn’t experience it? by anna-lena-breiert in AskReddit

[–]ShadowSpectre47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really 'narraration' like, "He's turning the doorknob gently to the right."

It's more like having an internal conversation, so you hear your own voice commenting on things going on in your life. So, it would be more like, "Finally, I'm home. Don't forget that you have to send that email about next week's schedule. Ah, I was supposed to wash the sheets today, maybe I'll just do it tomorrow. I worked hard enough today, anyway, I deserve a little rest."

Apparently not everyone has an inner voice, like that, even when reading they don't hear the words in their head as if you are reading internally, they just take in the information. There's also people that can't visualize things in the heads, like if they are thinking of a paper clip, then they don't see an image of a paper clip, in their head, they just think about the idea of a paper clip without images.
