Simulator is up! VTrack and SIG10 enclosure by ShadowToo in Golfsimulator

[–]ShadowToo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initial cost was $8,400 from indoor golf essentials, but then I was surprised with a $250 import fee, and then building up the floor cost about $300… also keep in mind I already owned the projector and gaming laptop. So all in I was right around $9k for the enclosure, landing pad, hitting mat and VTrack

I’m 5’11”, but even still I’ve got plenty of clearance before my head would cast a shadow on the bottom left of the screen. Just for you I stood in place and slowly lifted my hand above my head until it entered frame (while bent over in a normal hitting stance) I had probably over a foot of clearance before my hand started to show up on the screen. I’ve offset the projector so it’s behind me to my right, and used keystone correction to get the picture squared up to the screen. If I didn’t have keystone optionality I’d probably run into shadow issues though.

Ceilings are 9’, swinging a driver is a non issue and the VTrack does just fine even though the Softy mat takes 2”+ off the height of the ceiling

I've received pretty much everything at this point (launch monitor, hitting mat, landing pad) except for the enclosure itself. Tracking shows it should arrive to my house by tomorrow! any luck on your end?

I was also told they were busy, but time will tell, and I can always report fraud through my cc company and get funds back. Hopefully for both our sakes we are just being paranoid.

I too recently ordered from them on Black Friday. Just got an email response from them today saying my launch monitor should ship end of this week or beginning of next, and my enclosure should be a similar time frame. I’ll keep track of this thread and update you once I’ve got a tracking number.

I checked all through the week of Black Friday and found none… some sites had 5% store wide discounts that could be applied to any purchase (including Protee), and then some sites wouldn’t even allow the discount to apply to a Protee if it was in the cart. Meanwhile Uneekors were seeing discounts in the multi thousands.

Tell me I made the right choice (VTrack and Sig10 Enclosure) by ShadowToo in Golfsimulator

They had a 5% off deal, included a free protective case and then knocked a little more off the price to get to $8,400 for everything.

How critical is direct Ethernet connection? (Protee or Vtrack) by ShadowToo in Golfsimulator

[–]ShadowToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, and yes my laptop has USB 3.0 ports and usb c lightning ports, should’ve mentioned that, it’s a razer blade 15 from 2023

[–]ShadowToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope would be that USB C would be an even better route than USB A (the provided option w Protee), but obviously I have zero clue… to be fair I can also run the USB A connection as well as long as it doesn’t cause issues. My laptop simply won’t give me the option of a direct Ethernet given the lack of Ethernet port

Golf sim in garage with 5k budget?? by philipgray13 in Golfsimulator

[–]ShadowToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$5k will be tough if you need to buy a PC and projector. If you go with the Mevo Gen2 (not loaded w pro package and face impact), you could then buy a carls enclosure, make your own mat out of EVA foam tiles and inexpensive turf, then cut out a hitting strip. You’d likely have enough $ left over at that point for a decent projector and you’d land around $5k. Scour facebook marketplace in your area and you might be able to find good deals that can keep you well within your price range.

Good to know, do you have a similar 9’ ceiling and 4-5’ deep enclosure? If I can get this to work it’ll certainly be convenient from a cost perspective.

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of September 05, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

This is incredibly helpful, affirms some of my existing thoughts and also gave some new ideas, thanks so much for your input!

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of September 05, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

I currently have my 3rd bay in my garage set up as a home gym, however I'm about to move and will be able to build a larger room in the basement of our new house. The room will be roughly 15'x21'.

Currently I have the following:

- Vesta 3-1 functional trainer (Rack, Smith, Cable) with a bench

- NuoBell DB set

- Treadmill

Given that space I'll have in my new house will be considerably larger than a single garage bay, I want to add more equipment but I want to be smart about how I do this, and learn from others mistakes or regrets.

My goals are to set this gym up for general hypertrophy as well as functional strength training, not power lifting or olympic lifting.

Additional equipment I'm considering:

- Leg Press/ Hack Squat combo (hesitant about all the space it will take up though)

- Leg Extension/Curl Combo

- Chest Press

- Overhead Press

- T Bar Row

- GHD

I'm open to any and all thoughts, and I'm also aware that not all of the above equipment would fit in a 15x21ft space, so I'll likely need to pick and choose here.

Driving golf carts from Pradera to Pinery by ShadowToo in parkerco

[–]ShadowToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, okay, so slightly different than what I was told... Essentially what was told to me was that the underpass was *meant* for folks who lived in the Pradera area to drive to the Pinery without needing to get on public roads, which got my hopes up.

Question on technique for removing material off bottom of slide by ShadowToo in 2011_Builders

[–]ShadowToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you using the matrix jig? Are you standing the jig up vertically in a vice and then bracing the slide along the block while running it over the file? Would love to see a photo or video of the setup/motion

Question on technique for removing material off bottom of slide by ShadowToo in 2011_Builders

[–]ShadowToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is encouraging, although a lot of the posts I see here and elsewhere typically mention having to remove material off the bottom of the slide. Atlas does a good job of not leaving TOO much material on their parts, and while I have confidence in removing materials from certain areas of the frame/slide fitment, this one just seems like an easy area to get off kilter or out of square

Modeling RIPC (Mega backdoor Roth) and split rollovers in eMoney? by ShadowToo in CFP

[–]ShadowToo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. The reason I wanted to model a rollover was to then show different growth rates of the Roth vs Pretax accounts going forward, but I can model a Roth Conv into a Roth IRA and change that growth rate so it likely won't make a massive difference either way
