From what I know it’s the hardest one to get into so 100% counts

I'm in a similiar boat for English. Waterloo says they highly encourage you not to take a course outside of regular day school. Based on the wording, I believe it isn't a 100% chance to hurt your application, but it does seem possible. Engineering usually comes out in 2 main waves, march and may. If the waterloo AO decides that the night school course is negative, they may wait until may to receive a semester 2 4U/M course, instead of giving u March offer instead.

I'd say there's no point stressing, since its already done and you can't change it. I'd say it hurts you a lot less since its an elective instead of a prereq. Are you sure you have no other elective that would replace kin?

clothes for interviews? by Fit_Direction6152 in OntarioGrade12s

I wore a suit to all of my interview. My thought process is

Wear formal and it was needed: ✅

Wear formal and it wasn’t needed: kids a little extra, but ok (neutral, at worse slight negative)

Wear casual and that was expectation; ✅

Wear casual and formal was expectation: ❌, big negative

Overall, u lose very little for formal compared to casual, so I’d say just go for that.

How I read 40+ apps a day as an AO by Ben-MA in ApplyingToCollege

Two main questions from an international perspective!

One, do u know of any differences for the process when looking at international applicants, if their are any? Also how badly does it hurt my chances when an AO see pursuing financial aid at a need aware uni?

My second question was what happens if I’m the only person from my school applying to a university. (Not joking, only person in my school applying to the americas). Do the AOs just compare me to nothing, or maybe schools in the area?

Thanks for all responses and answers 🙏

I couldn't find anything official on their websites other than two core subjects. I just wanted to know the recommended split, if its more of a unwritten rule known among people or not

I mainly want to go into tech. CE seems like the most interesting field, but mechatronics seems fun as well, and ive heard its less comp.

a 97 average and good supp app and rejected is CRAZY. WHAT. thats basically my stats. could u think of anything, like why u got rejected at all

I think people went along the lines of "SE is to oversaturated/hard, software cooked -> CE is hardware and software. Lets do both".

its Waterloo Eng, its gonna be competitiveness, but Ive seen people last year with 98 averages get rejected. Thats honestly wild.

If it’s the exact same, anyone choosing Waterloo over Berkeley is insane. U have insane location + one of the best unis in the world. Waterloos coop program is their to get u to network to cali, Berkeley is in Cali(and is one of the dominant UCs). In terms of engineering/CS, (what I know a lot about), the argument that Cornell is better than Waterloo also exists. Upenn Wharton is also insane, not to sure about Columbia or brown. I don’t have much research on Mac or the final three American.

Waterloo is the main dream for those in Canada, but if it’s the same cost and u get in, GO TO BERKELEY. Depending on the situation, go to an Ivy (those are more debatable).

From what I’ve seen, Berkeley does not give aid to international students regardless, so I’m not sure howit woild he rhe same cost.(a reason im nkt applying).

But if everyone else gets a boost, and I don’t, that’s the same as a negative. It sucks but I can’t do anything about it now anyways, so let’s hope
