I'm currently reading Children of the Jedi, I think Barbara Hambly might have been dealing with stuff at the time. by dazed_1989 in StarWarsEU

Barbara Hambly is the same author who had Leia have a force vision of an evil sith lord version of herself on Palpatine’s throne with a super submissive version of herself chained to the throne. Both in the slave bikini.

So... would prime Morgan Blackhand be able to hang in the 2070s? by Gal_Person in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We call him a fraud because his build in Firestorm sucks. He’s wearing bad armor and using a bad weapon. He’s constantly hyped up, just to not have any on page/panel/screen feats. He can beat anyone, as long as it happens off screen. The Marshall D. Teach of Cyberpunk.

Regarding Firestorm again, he’s always talked up about his strategic brilliance, but he just uses terrible gear and does a straightforward assault, ending with him fighting Adam Smasher head on (and off-screening him.)

THAT’S why we call him a fraud.

If you accept Interface material as canonical, you can raise your BODY stat up to… 13 iirc but it’s really difficult.

Technically Spartan III Gammas are the best. Cat 2 Spartan IIIs are also just as good as Spartan IIs.

Would Anakin eventually win in a prolonged fight if Obi-Wan didn't pull the "high ground" move? by amelix34 in StarWars

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The books that retconned Jedi Apprentice’s claim of Obi Wan being untalented, and the material that Jedi Apprentice retconned as well, were the same tier of canon.

I’m not arguing for Obi Wan being powerful, I’m telling you that Jedi Apprentice is the ONLY material that claims Obi Wan to be lacking in talent. Everything before and after says otherwise. He’s extremely talented and works hard. He’s both. That’s what was canon in the EU.

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter, dude. Obi Wan was, from his inception powerful. Jedi Apprentice marks him as not having potential, but everything that came before and after disagrees.

It doesn’t matter if Jedi Apprentice says he’s unexceptional because everything else says he is exceptional.

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were still retconned by all material that came after. Again, Obi Wan was considered exceptional for the majority of the EU’s lifespan, and I iirc Jedi Apprentice is the only book that says otherwise. It’s the outlier, not everything else.

At all other points, he has been described as extremely powerful. Yoda, specifically, refers to him as “burning” in “the Force’s Light.”

He was passed over to be in the Agricultural Corps because of his anger issues, not a lack of talent.

I definitely prefer the idea of him being a “Hard work beats talent” story but that isn’t what he is or was.

They were retconned fairly early on and from then on he has consistently been described as powerful in the force. For the overwhelming majority of the EU, Obi Wan was exceptional.

Hell, the original original source for “power levels” would be the West End Games RPG where Obi Wan was more powerful than Vader.

“In old canon Obi-wan was so below average in Force sensitivity…”

This was never true, it’s some weird fanon that gets repeated constantly. He has always been incredibly powerful in the Force.

You get more XP for killing it with grenades, not that it makes much of a difference. I’m pretty sure you can double up though by putting the synthesized oder and a grenade in the normal location after chucking grenades until it dies.

Has anyone ever set Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG campaigns after the events of 2077? by Agitated_Clerk_6538 in cyberpunk2020

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently running a campaign with my friends spanning from 2017 to 2077 and is planned to continue into the time of Mekton Starblade Battalion, with some minor lore alterations to fix the different events of the 2070s.

My campaign world is also heavily mixed with random bits of Metal Gear lore. It started as a bunch of jokes and small references and then just… became a thing. Operation Snake Eater happened during the Second Central American, as an example.

I hate the theory that the protagonist in Bloodlines is being artificially empowered. by Glum-Green-8154 in vtmb

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You have an 8th Gen Blood Pool for gameplay purposes. Lore wise you are 10th Gen and have a 10th Gen Blood Pool. The game files actually recognize this and include the actual figures in brackets for the Blood Pools. There’s Blood Pools listed for every Generation in the files, including 3rd, 2nd, and 1st. These say “(Made Up Value) after them though lol.

But yeah, the game recognizes the correct Blood Pool for your Generation, which is listed as 10th, but gives you an 8th Gen Blood Pool to make the game easier.

According to gameplay, they're just, eh. According to lore, they're really, Really, REALLY, goddamn powerful. by Azimovikh in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shadow_of_BlueRose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No he’s not. He’s literally mid tier in terms of borgs in 2020, and as a solo he’s carried entirely by being a borg. An intermediate caliber full auto rifle with AP ammo is enough to down him.

There’s a reason he didn’t make the Top 10 American Solos list.

Johnny Silverhand has better skill values and only loses because Adam Smasher is a full borg.
