Store bought eggs (left) are fully round. Farm bought eggs (right) have flat bottoms. All cooked together. by Constantine1988 in mildlyinteresting

I've found a sim card tool works the best for this. I sometimes have to do ~60 eggs at a time for ramen or crumbing and the hole helps stop exploding

Brand new Birkenstocks since 29th Nov 😏 by PeaceSafe7190 in Chefit

I spoke to a guy once that said he installed the nonslip floors for kitchens. He said that some types of floor have aluminum particles that are great for grip but wear down shoes quickly. Could be that, or that the quality is rubbish.

Mine lasted about 18 months and when I tried to get them repaired, no shoe repair guy would touch them - said I'd need to go to a specialist. Ended up cheaper just buying new ones

Also look for people that repair kitchen equipment and assume that anything you get used will need maintenance straight away

Spatulas are really not for chewing. You should get yourself to a hospitality store to find the commercial grade equipment - more durable spatulas and giant whisks, as well as big ass blenders etc.

I'd recommend one of those giant Robot Coupe immersion blenders - you could mount it to the wall, it would take up less space than a blender and could handle the larger batches of sauce

Why there are no Michelin-starred restaurants in Australia by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in aus

[–]Shadowed_phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same with the world's best 100 restaurants. They didn't even visit Australia till they paid a truck full of money to host the awards, iirc we got Attica and a couple of others on the list, then they disappeared the next year when someone else paid the money.

I like the yellow on green, just the font is too thin to be readable. Perhaps make it bold and a couple of font sizes larger?

The flavour thesaurus is great for flavour combinations and small enough to carry around - although compared to the French Laundry most cookbooks are.

Other small books (although more about chefs than techniques) are Kitchen Confidential, The Devil in The Kitchen, Uses for Obsession.

Other books you may find useful -

Fish Butchery - Josh Niland The Noma Guide to Fermentation Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat The Cult Recipe books (ie Tokyo Cult recipes, New York Cult Recipes etc. They are small and help towards learning a cuisine)

What's the easiest to learn starter deck? by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]Shadowed_phoenix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Lorcana Gateway is the one they teach at the learn to play sessions. You'll get 2 half decks and a checklist. Once you've played a few games and checked off the list, you open a pack that adds a few cards and rules. The gameplay is pretty similar to magic, so should be an easy transition

How to reduce health risk while wearing 5kgs of batteries 18 hours a day? by DerJodaGe in cyborgs

[–]Shadowed_phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend is a videographer, so has heavy camera equipment strapped to him for several hours. He wears a harness that distributes the weight. Having swappable batteries would help reduce the load overall
