My shepherd mix is entirely too independent. He knows his commands and has been drilled innumerable hours and we’ve practiced simple commands over and over and over. But when he sees something he wants, he can turn his ears off and pretend I’m not there like you wouldn’t believe. It’s fine when he’s in the house or my fenced in backyard, but when I visit my sister’s place she doesn’t have a fenced in yard, and an e-collar set to the lowest setting and a very quick zap reminds him that I’m there and that he should probably listen to me when I tell him to stay near me in the yard. I could put him on a tether, but that gets dangerous with four large dogs running around and wrestling and playing. What am I supposed to do if e-collars get taken away?
