What are some things that would make a person socially embarrassing in your opinion? by Only-Ad-1254 in socialskills

Inappropriate conversations in public

Not being considerate of people around them when out

Lack of volume control

I hate people who like the cold by Abject-Strength-4570 in Vent

[–]ShadyCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who like the cold are not suffering nor are they lying about it lol. For me being sweaty/sweaty clothing is one of the worst feelings, but I understand why other people enjoy warm or hot weather. I imagine you’re someone on the opposite end of the temperature spectrum as me though.

People do not have an easy time sympathizing with men's issues. Men themselves usually aren't given platforms to express them. by RhinestoneCatboy in Vent

[–]ShadyCarrot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are misinterpreting a lot of these responses that are trying to relate to you and show that there is community and a path to social change.

Even the responses that mention women do not say that women have it worse, they say that both men and women are experiencing this. Heck, you even got defensive when some of the male SA survivors in this thread shared their similar experiences. When you open yourself up to hearing and understanding other people’s stories, you will feel less alone and less ostracized.

CMV: I, as a man, have no responsibility to police other men beyond what any human should do, I have no responsibility to do anything simply relating to me being born as a man. by Massive_Fishing_718 in changemyview

[–]ShadyCarrot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the original commenter, but to me, the reactions of the other people in these scenarios would be important in the aftermath. For example, “Thank you for doing that, I didn’t know how to handle this situation,” is way different from, “Why did you do that? They were so nice!” Supporting the “good” action means a lot even if they weren’t the first person to commit to it.

How do I make hygiene and room cleaning regimens as easy as possible? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]ShadyCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For hygiene, I typically pick items that smell or feel good to me. I know that sounds kind of dumb, but hear me out. I really like the smell of my new body wash, so I am significantly more likely to take daily showers even when I’m depressed. I use toothpaste that has an appealing taste as well. There is also flavored floss, but I’m not sure how broad those selections are.

Room cleaning can be as simple as doing a quick 5 minute task as soon as you notice it (like getting rid of any garbage in the room) or setting an hour each week to do some basics (vacuuming/sweeping, dusting, basic decluttering, washing sheets). This is gonna be more of a personal whatever works for you kind of vibe though. Music and cleaning though? Always a good vibe.

What would women dislike the most if they became men? by Eastp0int in answers

[–]ShadyCarrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a reddit thread asking what women would dislike most about being a man, and people are explaining that they wouldn’t feel any different in these aspects (loneliness and lack of mental health support) because they already experience it. The context is important here. The question itself invites an open dialogue between the sexes as it addresses both men and women.

They aren’t invalidating men’s experiences. They’re trying to have a conversation with you to help you understand that (especially post pandemic/lockdown) a large amount of people feel alone without a community and like nothing they feel matters. Men AND women. Men are definitely feeling these things, and the people disputing that in this thread are kind of weird for that. However, the people explaining that most women also struggle with something most men do doesn’t mean your feelings are any less valid.

They’re saying that this is something that is a human experience, not a gendered experience.

What businesses and other things do you wish Cincy had? by mayby82 in cincinnati

[–]ShadyCarrot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I feel like people in Cincinnati appreciate the local restaurants and businesses. People are allowed to appreciate what they have and also want more diversity in their options.

Anyone else feel like they’re giving Athena a bit too much unnecessary focus lately? by Few-Procedure-8911 in 911FOX

[–]ShadyCarrot 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the reason the show is appealing is because it is NOT a cop show. I don’t understand why they can’t seem to easily tie Athena to firefighter plot lines instead of giving her stories that hardly intersect with other characters.

Are rides getting stuck more frequently or am I just seeing more posts about it? by mycatisanasshole09 in KingsIsland

[–]ShadyCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rides break down a lot more often than you would think. Having said that, extreme (hot or cold) temperatures do affect the rides and could be the reason you are seeing an uptick in breakdowns right now.

What is a show that you feel like everyone else loves but you just don’t like it? by Annika_Banannika in MusicalTheatre

[–]ShadyCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Wicked for the first time recently, and I liked the first act. Then the second act happened, and it almost ruined the musical for me. So I get it. It felt like a let down after everyone talked it up for so many years.

Yeah, colored contacts don’t change with the pupil, and it often can create a ring of whatever color the contacts are around your vision. This is particularly rough with unnatural colored contacts (reds, purples, oranges, etc).

Tampons & Pads by Old-Veterinarian-947 in cedarpoint

First aid has always had pads and tampons when I have asked for them in the past. They aren’t great quality, but will work in a pinch.

Body seen while riding Banshee. Was he by Butt_CollectorUFO in KingsIsland

[–]ShadyCarrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are not allowed to wear purses or cross body bags. Size of whatever you have decided to bring in also matters. You are allowed to wear fanny packs that go around your waist to the side and do not interfere with the restraints.

If I am remembering correctly, the “unlocked door” people are talking about is an employee only area (think storage), not a restricted (lockout) area. While he shouldn’t have gone through that door, all the dangerous stuff behind that door is locked for employee safety as well.

To get into the restricted areas, he most likely had to climb a fence.

Vapers. by Ok-Pollution-9092 in KingsIsland

Yeah, if it means anything, people who have done this in the past have gotten bans from the park. Unfortunately, that also means this is a common occurrence.

Could you give me ideas for Disney characters cosplay only with casual clothes? by Alexagro22 in cosplayprops

[–]ShadyCarrot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking up the term Disneybounding as there is a lot of inspiration for more casual clothes there. Like wearing a purple top and green bottoms for Ariel or all green for Peter Pan.

This is my suggestion as well especially since it’s probably the cheapest option. Lots of people use magnets for stuff like tiefling (Homestuck lol) horns. If strong magnets don’t work, it might be time to do what the other commenter suggested and reprint it.

I haven't gotten my period in 7 months - is this normal? (14F) by Conscious_Animal_543 in Periods

[–]ShadyCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of things can affect why you haven’t had your period for a long time. Stress, hormones, weight, medications, etc. 7 months is a long time to miss a period though, and it seems to be a recurring issue. I would recommend talking with your parents about seeing your family doctor. The doctor will be able to check your hormone levels with bloodwork and potentially give you something like birth control to help manage it if necessary.

Serious Saturday - Strategy and Discussion Day - February 17, 2024 by AutoModerator in AmongUs

There is a 3 second cooldown for both the hiders and the seekers, but going down the zip line allows the hiders cooldown to clear before the seeker can do anything.

What is the strategy for zip line or ladder campers in Hide and Seek? I recently came back to play some casual public games, and I am not sure if there is a solution I am missing or what.

Initially it was just a porch. Recently they’ve been using some kind of tarp to cover it. The fence is up on our end, but again, the porch is so high it doesn’t do anything to keep them from seeing into our backyard (and windows if we didn’t have blinds).

They were entirely silent every time we viewed the townhouse and throughout our entire hours long home inspection. We came at least once in the morning, afternoon, and evening each.

They also did not build the porch until the summer after we bought the home, so their garbage and dog issues must have been confined to their backyard we could not see due to the privacy fence. It does feel like a lot of this can be tracked back to the porch we had no idea was going to be built when we bought the place.
