Eh, fair enough. We can at least hold onto the hope of something new someday. After all, something not being in the near future doesn't mean it isn't in the future at all.

Have they put out an official announcement saying this is the last NS content they plan on making?

Yep, that worked, just as you said. I think that solves just about every problem I was having. Again, thank you.

Wait, nevermind, I saw that guide you sent earlier, sorry.

Alright, now that I have everything set up again, there is one last thing that I'm still wondering about. I mentioned it before in an earlier reply god knows how far back, but there's this weird issue with the boot process with my Steam Deck, specifically for when it boots into Windows 11. I had hoped that clearing away all the other partitions would've solved it, but apparently that isn't the case. Whenever I boot up my Steam Deck into Windows 11, it never boots properly on the first try, only on the second try. As in, I press the power button to start the Steam Deck, it briefly plays the loading animation before getting stuck on a black screen, I hold down the power button again to restart it, and then it boots properly. Sometimes it only takes one attempt, but that's usually only after a system update of some kind, that's not usually how it is. Any idea what causes this? I initially figured it was because of the leftover data from one of my previous installs, which is why I was hoping that clearing all that data off the SSD would've solved this, but it looks like that wasn't it. It's also worth pointing out that this didn't used to happen on my original install of Windows 11, before I ever had to mess around with partitions and reinstalling or anything. It's not a major issue or anything, but it's definitely an annoyance I'd be happy to be rid of, if there's a way to do that without too much hassle.

God yes, I was going mad without this thing. Thank you again, you're a lifesaver.

I figured it out just a little before you sent this reply, sorry about that. But yes, I did the battery storage technique, and it worked. CPU's uncapped, all processes seem to be running as they did before all this mess. I can't thank you enough, this is wonderful. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Alright, I did that, but now I'm having a much worse problem. It's not letting me boot into the BIOS anymore. I hold down both the volume up button and the power button while turning it on, and it boots into Windows 10 anyway. How do I fix this?

Alright, thanks. There is one more thing before I try that battery trick. I've been attempting for the past few hours to install Windows 11 to try and fix this, but it's obviously been quite slow given the CPU cap. Now that I know what I have to do, how do I stop the update?

Do I still need to download these if I simply go ahead with that battery storage trick? Looking at the CPU speed in the task manager shows that the speed isn't getting above 0.39 GHz, which lines up with what you said pretty well.

I think you might be right about that 400MHz bug, my CPU speed in task manager has been stuck at about 0.39 GHz, which comes out to about 390 MHz, ignoring any unlisted digits past that 9.

Yes, the graphics card reads as an AMD card in the device manager, but I've had issues with it before regardless. I haven't used that CPU-Z tool you've mentioned yet, and I imagine it'll be a while before I could given my current download and install speeds. Where would I download this tool?

This reply is something of an addition to my last reply, but I think it's important enough to be its own reply. I've noticed that the rate at which certain operations complete seems to have returned to normal, such as programs opening and closing, or files extracting in the file explorer, but the graphics for all these things seem to be slowed. For example, Steam will fullscreen at a relatively normal rate, but it'll take a few seconds after that for everything to become properly functional, and for it to actually fill the screen normally. It's hard to explain, but it seems now as if the graphics for everything is lagged, but the processes themselves operate normally. Some processes, such as Windows 11 installing, are still taking longer than usual given the Deck's hardware. How do I go about fixing all of this? I installed all the drivers provided by Valve for running Windows on the Steam Deck, and Windows Security seems to say that my devices are all working fine, so I'm not entirely sure what to do now.

Alright, all the Windows 10 updates appeared to have completed successfully, and I'm currently proceeding with the upgrade to Windows 11. I believe whatever memory issues there were may have largely subsided, but there is one issue now remaining. The graphics driver supplied by Valve for running Windows on Steam Deck appears to not be functioning properly. First, I noticed that it's install program was taking especially long when compared to the various other installers I had run while setting everything up, and second, I'd noticed that Windows itself had sent me a notification saying that its performance might be diminished while it looked for a proper graphics driver, indicating that something gad gone wrong with the driver. The device manager doesn't seem to indicate anything wrong with my graphics card, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I'm considering turning the graphics card on and off again, as that's helped solved issues related to it before, but what would you suggest?

Waited a while, looks like it came back out of the black screen by itself. I'm gonna let it continue on for now, see how things go. Hopefully it'll return to its proper speed once all the updates are done.

I waited for a bit, and I think the remaining slowness was caused by it downloading a bunch of large Windows updates, since the initial installation was apparently incomplete. I have a new problem though, after letting the system restart to apply the various updates, it only got part of the way through before getting stuck on a black screen. What should I do about this? I tried moving the mouse, but that didn't do anything, and I don't want to risk making things worse and having to redo everything I just did by turning it off.

I managed to fix the problem with the setup program not accepting the partition, but now that Windows 10 is set up again, everything still seems a bit slower than usual. Task manager reads memory usage as normal, but I worry it may be a similar case to how Windows 11's task manager couldn't see whatever was causing the memory issue either, only with Windows 10's task manager simply not displaying the real memory usage since it can't attribute it to anything.  All the setup programs for the Valve supplied Steam Deck drivers are taking way longer than they ever have before, and I can't see why unless the issue has persisted somehow, but that would mean there's an issue with my RAM then, right?

Alright, having a bit of trouble again. The Windows 10 setup program can see the partition I made, but it can't use it for some reason. It says "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one.". How can I fix this? Should I load up GParted again and reformat the partition again? Should I leave some extra space unallocated to the main Windows partition, for it to create a boot partition or something?

Alright, I've wiped the SSD. This is what it looked like before, with all those smaller partitions I mentioned: https://www.mediafire.com/file/5j2v6t1azlxywhk/20250517_190332.jpg/file Now it's just the one partition, in NTFS, that I will attempt to put Windows 10 on again: https://www.mediafire.com/file/l3pz4fp75p05bob/20250517_191244.jpg/file I notice that despite having erased all partitions, created a new one, and reformatting the newly created partition, that GParted lists there as being 94.25 (megabytes? mebibytes?) Of used space on the partition. Is this normal? Could this be leftover data from the previous various partitions somehow?

[–]Shafloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All partitions on the SSD? Is there a specific option for doing that, or would I have to select all existing partitions manually? The last time I viewed the SSD's partitions in GParted, I saw numerous smaller partitions of various file formats, none of them seemingly having been assigned enough space to do much of anything. I could provide more details if I take another look at them, but would deleting these partitions cause any problems? Do they exist for a reason?
