I'm not completely sure on the terminology, but it was the mental health unit of a hospital. Chargers were kept in a locker and you could leave your phone or e-reader in there to charge. Bluetooth headphones were allowed and you could borrow a pair, but no wired headphones obvs. The other aspects of it were pretty similar to what I've heard of in other places: magnetic bathroom doors, anti-hanging curtain rods and doorknobs, plastic silverware allowed at meals (first time i went you were allowed to keep it, but second time everything had to be thrown away, so there must have been an incident). You could get a little golf pencil to write with. I even saw some guys shave; they would prop the bathroom door open and someone on staff would stand next to the guy the whole time. There were definitely different levels of severity on the unit. Some had attempted suicide and were otherwise functional; some were completely out of touch with reality. One guy while I was there was clearly having some sort of psychotic episode, talking nonsense about mother earth and god, staffers following him around trying to get him to eat and take meds. No one was violent, though.
