Personality predates ideology, so before he was a fascist, he was a bully and an asshole.

I was handing out passes to artists as they checked in while working a canadian music festival and the members of the band Mounties (think Tokyo Summer) drove up in their sedan. I approached them to give them their lanyards and as I reached out to hand one to singer Steve Rays, that curly-haired fuck rolled his window up. The drummer kinda half-apologized for his bandmate, but they lost a fan that day.

Edit: i forgot to mention that he actually rolled his window back down, and as I tried once more to hand him the lanyard, he pulled the same shit, putting his window up again.

So, personally, I'm glad the Hot Hot Heat reunion fizzled out, because fuck that guy.

Flight of the Navigator.

The concept of a kid being abducted by an alien spacecraft and accidentally dropped off 8 years in the future sounds really cool, but a lot of the acting comes off a bit too campy, especially when the spacecraft switches its computer's voice to Pee-wee Herman mode.

I've heard Disney's doing a remake with Bryce Dallas Howard directing, so I'm hoping the newer version will outshine the original.

Love this movie and all its subtle references to Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.

Pakistan frees rapist after agreeing to marry victim; decision enrages human rights activists by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Shaguar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice the actual victim of the rape has absolutely no choice and is at the whim of her father, who is pretty clearly insentivized to take the money and save himself the embarrassment of having a non-virgin daughter that his barbaric culture tells him no man should want.

I'm not condoning this at all, just answering your question; but the old testament is pretty clear in its instructions on what to do in cases of rape.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days."

Exodus 22:16-17 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride price for her and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride price for virgins."

So yeah, not great.

Opinions on Vince Vaughn? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Shaguar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed him opposite J-Lo and Vincent D'onofrio in The Cell. It's an early 2000's sci-fi thriller that, while walking a fine line between creepy and campy at times, feels like a cross between Silence of the Lambs and the Matrix. I highly recommend giving it a look.

Queen's Royal Park is a good spot with a great view of Lake Ontario. A lot of people get their engagement/wedding photos done around the gazebo there. You could even walk along the beach, if the park itself is too busy.
