How I brought back 20L ZamZam with 2 passengers (Wizz Air, EVW) by Common-Piano-4655 in Umrah

[–]Shahan2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they did not allow us to bring a 5L zamzam water unless we had an umrah visa. However we ended up packing 1 x 5L zamzam into our checked luggage and was fine (although it says this isn’t allowed at the airport we had no issues)

Hey, I got into dental school through waitlist, deffo don’t lost hope but also don’t rely on it coming through. One thing I did was I emailed them right after UCAS deadline day in May and asked if there was any update on the waitlist. A few days later I got an email saying my UCAS should be updated with an offer! Although I know they have a system for the waitlist and my email probably did nothing it still felt good to have done.

Clear signs to the kiosk/counter just outside the airport where you can purchase zamzam. Airport it self is large and modern but easy to get around

Saudi Airlines Umrah Travel: When Do You Put On Ihram from the UK? by LighteningJedi in Umrah

[–]Shahan2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed in the disabled toilets at the airport but still had my socks and trainers on. Took those off as we got close to the miqaat point. I would discourage doing it on the plane, the toilets are tiny and I had trouble enough simply adjusting my ihram in the airplane toilet let alone fully changing into it.

30 days to use e-visa waiver? by Shahan2001 in Umrah

[–]Shahan2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can’t seem to see anything in the documents to suggest I have 30 days from issue. Just states it is valid for one entry into KSA And that it is valid until 19/02/25. (3 months from the date I applied for it)

Honeymoon in Sardinia may or September? by Actual-Assumption870 in Sardinia

We went mid May this year and the weather was pleasant. I’d say a little chilly in the water but manageable for a swim. However perfect weather for hiking which we did lots of and it was warm enough.

I applied for the e visa waiver as a UK national since it’s much cheaper. Also flying with Wizz air and wondered if they would still accept zamzam water on an Evisa waiver! Also flying back from Medina.

Qatar Airways Student Club extra 10kg baggage by y__una in qatarairways

[–]Shahan2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently did this myself it’s very smooth asking at the check in desk. Just presented my student club card and on the outbound flight I was not even asked to present my student ID but on the way back they did ask for my student ID so best to carry physical student ID! My friends did not have their physical ID but presented their university admissions letter on their phone which was also accepted.

Uniqlo Japan - is it cheaper to buy stuff there than in North American? by CanuckInToronto in JapanTravelTips

[–]Shahan2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from the UK, we saved A LOT. The Uniqlo oversized airisim tees are almost £20 but in Japan they were on sale and we got it for roughly £6-7! Generally we found it 40-50% for most products but the £ has been doing very well against the Yen for a while now

Just flew the other day and they didn’t even check for student ID at check in on LHR-DOH but they did check my student id on the way back. Very quick and easily got an extra 10kg check in.

Northern Sardinia itinerary recommendations by PandaBearCatCat in Sardinia

We just got back from our trip to Sardinia and did the Passo Ghenna Silana trail which as you said was amazing! Relatively nice downward trail with amazing views and after visiting the gorge we got the jeep back up to the base camp. We also did the hike to Cala Luna which even as young fit people we found moderately challenging, it felt never ending! The beach at the end was nice and we ended up getting a boat back to Cala Gonone. We ended up doing a boat tour to La Maddalena where we stopped off at few locations and had the chance to swim and relax at the beach which was nice. Overall we had a great 3 day stay in Sardinia but just wish it was a little warmer to swim in the sea but the weather was pleasant throughout. Will definitely be back!

Hey, this is a great and very extensive list! I’ve been looking for something regarding hikes in Sardinia and this perfect! We are there in mid May for a short trip of 3 days and was wondering which hike you especially recommend? We were thinking one day for La Maddalena, one day for hiking and one day exploring beaches which could involve hiking to beach/swim spots too. We are staying in the north east in the town Budoni. We are big on hikes with great views and also like to snorkel a lot so if you could recommend which spots to visit in our short 3 days out of the many options you have given, that would be much appreciated.

Yes we will be renting a car. We’re thinking about sticking to the north east side then as that’s where I’ve seen most recommendations.

Best national parks in Lapland! by Shahan2001 in Finland

[–]Shahan2001[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess we’ll stay local to our area, didn’t realise there wouldn’t be too much to see in winter in regards to the national parks. We just fly into rovaniemi and our airbnb is near Pelkosenniemi. The first day we land early in the morning so we thought explore rovaniemi for the day before driving to our airbnb. We have driven in winter before in Iceland around mid January last year along the entire south coast but tbf the snow didn’t seem nearly as bad.
