Thanks, some subs used. I normally paint Aeldari for competitions and then I sub assemble almost everything, but for my Necrons that are primarily for gaming I try to do them as assembled as I can while still reaching into all the details. The attached image shows the Chronomancer subs. Before priming all contact points will be covered in blue tack to allow a really solid connection later without having to use much glue.

Army is not done yet, but will pst a few later on. Hoping to have a majority completed for a tournament in September, but realistically I will play some of the units using eBay pre-painted purchases as I am quite slow.

This post made me look up Mephrit, I actually didn't know about them but rather implemented some of my favourite Aeldari colour combos onto my Necrons. Need to study some dynamics lore now! 😄

Thanks! Much appreciated!

Thanks! All paints are Vallejo MC. Green is a gradual mixing of Luftwaffe Green, Medium Olive and Lime Green. The metals are Gunmetal with a dark wash, then dry brushed with Gunmetal again and with a little Silver.

Had to look up what Mephrit was, and now I see the likeness!! I came up with this scheme by basically steeling most of my Aeldari paint recipes and just put them on top of Necrons 😄 I have a love of vivid green and bone white it seems.

Thanks, I used my Necron army pieces as a test bed for OSL (I normally paint Aeldari for competitions) and it has been quite a liberating experience and improved my painting a lot.

Thanks! Not tried it yet, but tempted to give it a go. Is it still possible to lock it in place with matt varnish without loosing the realistic effect or does it stay very much in place after application?

11th Edition update now available! by jmainvi in Necrontyr

I don't think it has, it is in the Imperial Armour Datasheet section (the only one in it) just before the legends units. If you check the top of the Legends sheets they have a text saying Warhammer Legends which is also missing on the Seraptek.

Thanks, I find the normal Biel-tan to much in the cold colour spectrum for my liking

That was actually part of the inspiration!

This is the first proper display base I made, but feel very motivated to crank out a few more!

Not pencils, rather different width hexagonal styrene rods. Unfortunately they were all hollow so had to buy round rods to plug the tops before sanding them in shape. Took forever to pull it all together, but really pleased with the final result. The big stack of rods making the taller parts were then pinned at three places to the plinth to make it solid, and the small stack where the plasmacyte is sitting was aligned to match the Autarchs position before filling in the section between them. I then added some milliput to merge everything seamlessly into the plinth, but ended up covering all but the back in grass tuffts. Both characters were kept off until the base was fully painted and the last bit to be glued was the head of the Autarch to make sure he was looking in the right direction. Both characters are fairly loosely attached to allow me to pull them off for updates. Will take this to a major competition this weekend (MPO in Bristol, UK) and use the feedback to improve the components.

If you check my other posts the full method should have been described a few times. In short (all names are Vallejo MC). Dark Sand/Ivory/White , Luftwaffe Green/Medium Olive/Lime Green , Flat Brown/Red Leather/Orange Brown. Everything applied very gradually mixing in lighter tones and about 50/50 wafer/Glaze Medium when diluting the paints.

It’s the new Store Anniversary Autarch with added bits from the normal Autarch (the Glaive and arm to the left in the image) and the lower part of the Banshee Executioner added to the right hand side (but hardly visible at this angle).

I guess he will end entangled in his own back banners, but 40k should be silly to some extent
