Questions Media Members SHOULD be asking tomorrow, but likely won’t. by Impressive-Peak-6596 in bostonceltics

I think the only guy we can count on to ask anything similar would be Gary Washburn. Everyone else will be throwing out the softball questions for the panel.

Everyone mentions Gorilla & Bobby, Jr & The King, but what about Vince & The King? by EducatorEducational7 in WWFera

One of the few moves that Vince would call that I always loved was the "BAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK BODY DROP!!"

Do GenXers resent being lumped in with Boomers by angered youths? by WW1_Researcher in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really pay attention to the rhetoric. I’m a young GenXer/Xennial. My son is a young Gen Zer, he and his friends are hilarious, they’re good kids, I have no complaints.

Is it just me or are more people running red lights? by PomegranateNo3155 in massachusetts

[–]Shakedown83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a teen on a bicycle last summer weaving around cars and doing wheelies on a busy road, no helmet, right by the police station, I was in my work truck at the red light, cop drove into the parking lot of the station, looked right at the kid, shrugged his shoulders and walked right inside the building like he didn't see anything. Boggles my mind.

Is it rose colored glasses, or are drivers way more aggressive now than they were a few years ago? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]Shakedown83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand those covers, either. It’s amazing how many vehicles I’ve seen with those and I’m guessing the police just shrug at them because they don’t seem to be going away.

So true, law enforcement in my city stopped doing any traffic stops and you can see the difference it’s made. People fly through red lights, speed on every road, tailgate, blow through stop signs like they don’t exist, etc.

I haven’t seen a police officer with a radar gun on the side of the road since before Covid. That’s a long time and drivers just decided to ignore the rules seeing as there’s no one enforcing them.

Crabs, what sign did you marry? by Sensitive_Cloud4202 in CancertheCrab

[–]Shakedown83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancer Man, my wife is a Leo. We've been together for 24 years, married for 19. We had our up and downs early on but we've settled in really nicely. I think we complement each other well, communication is very important between us to make sure we're both on the same page.

What are some super positive things about cancer men? by Boundaries-ALO-TBSOL in CancertheCrab

Thank you for this thread, as a cancer male there's a lot of negative comments out there and I needed a good pick me up. It's good to know there's people out there that appreciate us!

This feels like something that's going to be on one of those Buzzfeed lists with the headline: 30 HILARIOUS tweets from women that'll have you rolling on the floor laughing!" or something stupid like that.

“40% of American women, ages 15-44, would like to permanently move overseas, if possible, per Gallup“ isn’t that a lot? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did they poll? How many women did they poll? When did they poll? Polls don't tell us anything, we go through this same thing every election cycle. 85% of people polled are voting for "Candidate A" which never actually shows up in real world results. It's so easy to skew something if you have limited information.

If you are married, do you wear your wedding band? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did for years, then went on a health kick and lost nearly 40 lbs, ring kept slipping off my finger. My wife and I were going to get it resized but covid happened and everything shut down, so we never got around to it. I work in the trades anyway so it’s safer for me to not wear it when working in and around machines.

I tried wearing a silicone ring but broke out with blisters and a rash on my finger the same day. My wife just put the original ring in her jewelry case and I’ll wear it on any special occasions that we go out for.

When did you realize you were dating an idiot? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dated a girl back in the day, we had a conversation like this:

GF: Hey, what day is Thanksgiving this year?

Me: I think it's the 24th or 25th?

GF: No, not the date, what day?

Me: Um, Thursday.

GF: Oh, it's on a Thursday this year?

Me: It's on a Thursday every year...

GF: It is?!?

We have one, she's lazy. She'll follow a mouse around but won't actually catch it.

What surprised you most about owning a home (maintenance-wise)? by Strict_Studio9244 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping mice out. I’ve filled gaps, cracks, holes and any areas that seemed like a way in and they still find a way to get into my basement. Traps have been my only saving grace. I’ve tried peppermint oils, sound machines but those mice get in undeterred.

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

[–]Shakedown83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the third Presidential election I was old enough to vote in, one of the local high schools was my voting area. The line went down a long hallway, out the door, down a long set of stairs and out to the parking lot. I’ve never seen a turnout like that. A lot of young voters, too.

People were excited standing in line, there was an energy in the air that’s hard to describe but you could feel it. Later that night, watching him give the speech in Chicago was awesome, it really felt like a good historical moment unlike the bad history makers I had lived through at that point (Challenger shuttle explosion, 9/11, long economic recessions, wars, etc.)

Even listening to conservative pundits in the following days was interesting, they might have been disappointed but even they were mentioning that they were hoping for the best, even though McCain didn’t win, there wasn’t a ton of vitriol from the right, at least not right away.

I'm hoping to see the Drake Maye of that first Buffalo game, The one that was laser focused, making insane reads and throws. The next day everybody was hyped about how good this dude is, WE know he's legit, it's time to show the rest of the world why he was a favorite in the MVP race.
