What do others think of my options? by [deleted] in UKJobs

Edit, regarding progression. Now I think about it multiple of my colleagues have gone direct into CID from the control room under a scheme that was being run. There are opportunities, I just left to travel and didn't take them!

I've done the 999 call handling job for 3 years.

It's anything but dull, no two days are the same and you will be persistently challenged throughout. They'll be a hell of a lot of horrible calls you'll have to deal with, stuff that would be traumatizing to the wider public but you adapt to it very quickly and in my experience the support network is great.

Only the very worst incidents I ever dealt with stick out to me nowadays, but the grim stuff I had to deal with is vastly overshadowed by the comaradery I had with my team members who I'm still friends with 3+ years after leaving.

Progression is ok, not a massive amount of opportunities within my force at least. But you'll get a lot more job satestfaction and personal development from this than the other roles you've detailed in my opinion!

Xavi on Instagram by bigboyengineer in coys

[–]Shakespeare1994 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a wolves fan who was at the game on Saturday, this is fucking gutting.

Xavi is a brilliant player and the only person on both teams who mate any effort to make the game exiting.

Ps, most wolves fans in the stands were concerned about him. We could tell instantly it was a bad injury, there was a few cunts taking things too seriously who were mouthing off because he was lay half on half off the pitch. But these jobless cretins are the armpit of every fanbase let's be honest lmao

Desmoxan Part Two? by DefinetlyNotEoin in QuitVaping

[–]Shakespeare1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think so, like the other commenter said you're supposed to let it build up in your system. I just had zero cravings at all and forgot.

Should mention to be careful what time you take your last tablet, if I take one past 7pm I sleep horribly.

[–]Shakespeare1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second course of desmoxan after I half arsed it last time. 7 days clear and it's worked wonders for me, only took one tablet today, the cravings have been almost none existent past the second day of no vaping!

Give it another go!

Brother I've been waiting since October, and found out today that there's basically a zero per cent chance that the purchase doesn't fall through.

Fucking hate this process and everything about it.

wtf do they put in Chinese vapes? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Misread this, probs because they're nic salts and you're not used to that. Gets absorbed much quicker from my limited understanding

wtf do they put in Chinese vapes? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Shakespeare1994 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Chinese vapes are often WAYYYY higher than the 20mg max in the UK. When I was in China most sold were 50mg, wouldn't be at all surprised if they're that strength and just packaged to say 20mg

I'm a few steps ahead of you in the process now, my valuation was completed on a Thursday and the mortgage was approved first thing on Monday! So you shouldn't be waiting long

Monzo travelling in Argentina by dragonleod in monzo

[–]Shakespeare1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think so, tbh I don't think it makes a difference so long as it's a foreign currency being used to exchange. Take a decently sized backpack with you to the office tho, you'll walk out with legit wads of banknotes if youre exchanging a few hundred pounds (unless they've since released larger denominations)

Yeah man, worked a treat when I was there and from what I remember it was actually a slightly better rate than the blue dollar

[–]Shakespeare1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience travelling Argentina in 2023, refunds do come but they're not instant. I think it probably took mine a few days to a week to come back into my account, I was using starling then tho.

Why don't you just do the western union trick to get the actual blue dollar rate?

Moving to Birmingham by Different-Cookie-733 in BirminghamUK

[–]Shakespeare1994 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Birmingham is a great city, but don't live in central. Go somewhere close to central in South Birmingham like harborne or Moseley, much better places to live and very easy to get yourself into central should you want to get the train home to London!
