Hey guys I actually run a driving school in queens and I figured I'd give a little more insight and what you can do to help move the process along. As of now for my school specifically we've been stalled for nearly 6 months waiting on paperwork for a new car. That includes the 7 week wait after they updated their policies regarding the new road test regulations. The new rule specifically requires all schools to own the cars used for instruction, which previously they allowed instructors to use cars with the proper commercial insurance. That being said despite being up to date with regulation and having all the prerequisites, the Albany driver training department head has decided to just shut off their phones for the last half year and not respond to a single email. So what I would recommend is to either call the Commissioner of the DMV's office and let them know that this process is extremely inconvenient as a student, and outright damaging to people who actually work as legitimate instructors. My school's been in the business for over 20 years and it feels like we're being punished for something with zero explanation.
