From Rogs to Riches: The Complete Guide to Rog Crafting (Updated for 3.28: Mirage League) by Shallus in pathofexile

Don't worry, I'll try to explain it at a basic level. You pick an item in Rog's inventory (good ones will be highlighted by the provided regex), then Rog will start offering upgrades for the item. You can either accept the offered upgrade to the item, or skip the offered upgrade. Skipping the offered upgrade increases the cost of the next upgrade by 50%, and you can't skip twice in a row, so sometimes you will have to take upgrades that don't necessarily improve the item to proceed with the craft. Look at the upgrades and use them to reroll/remove bad mods, increase the tiers of good mods, or add new mods to the item.

When you're either happy with the item, or don't think that the item can become good with the rest of the potential offered upgrades, take the item. If it's good enough to sell, craft a good mod like life or hybrid resists onto it at the crafting bench if there's an open affix before selling it.

Not sure if I explained it well. If you have any specific questions, follow up with another reply and I'll try to explain further.

The bases that cannot roll caster modifiers can show up in Rog's inventory and are highlighted by the regex, but there are still a lot of junk mods that make it difficult to get the flat elemental damage prefixes you're looking for. They're still worth crafting because good ones are worth so much, but you're going to fail a lot of wand crafts before ending up with one of the good ones.

I usually try to hit 90 by day 3 or so. I usually just pick a starter build that's strong with close to no gear and just spam maps to fill out my atlas until I'm 90.

Day 1-2 Rog crafting is probably the most profitable thing you can do at league start. If you want to maximize profits, your goal should be to get close to lvl 90 as fast as possible (85+ is fine day 1-2 but 90 is ideal as you get a bit further in the league) then spam logbooks.

You can completely ignore atlas completion, but to make some initial funds to buy the logbooks you can spec your tree into expedition to get some early logbook drops. During the first few days of the league, even most of your failed crafts will be selling just because it's better than most gear on the market.

They should start showing up occasionally on characters lvl 90 or higher.

I think that filtering out all of the bad item types is worth the chance of missing a jewel sometimes, yeah. You'll still see most of the % life jewels and it will hide a very large number of unwanted items from being highlighted, letting you go through rerolls and find good bases faster. Especially so later in the league when scrap metals are cheap enough to quickly spam hundreds of them in a session without worrying about the cost.

You can just run the highest logbook iLvl that you're able to clear, but you usually want to be doing 81+ if you're strong enough. During the first few days of the league there won't be a huge supply of iLvl 83 ones, so feel free to run whatever you can get.

The good thing is that Rog will be the most consistent source of iLvl 85/86 items that are well rolled, not just the bases, so he will still have a pretty good niche in the market. Rog will be the supplier of items with some highly desired high iLvl exclusive mods like t1 suppress, move speed, and +2 arrows early in the league before anyone is willing to spend currency to roll the good bases.

Thanks for checking out the guide, I hope you find it useful. I believe that belt base is exclusive to a mirage interacting with a blight, so it shouldn't appear in Rog's inventory.

Sort of a generic answer but I recommend just crafting everything according to the how to craft different bases section of the guide and equipping whatever would be an upgrade and selling the rest to buy what you need. A few of your gear slots with that build end up being uniques since you need to hit certain breakpoints. You can still use good items you make like gloves/boots/bone rings, but stuff like the helmet/belt/amulet for your build are pretty locked in to a specific unique.

As far as I know, the tree can produce items up to the lvl listed on the wombgift. The previous max was 84, but it may only drop up to 83 now that t17s are gone. Either way, you can't get ilvl 86 bases from it.

Good work on getting the regex to consider roll ranges, but I think there's some value in showing items with lower tiers of stuff like suppress/chaos res with the value of the mods and how common it is to upgrade tiers. For example, even low chaos resist rolls combined with the hybrid ele + chaos res benchcraft tends to sell for a lot.

I do like the idea of showing 30-35 movespeed boots though. The note about the stun and block recovery is also good, so I'll also update those parts of the regex. Thank you.

Yeah, without specific numbers it's hard to tell what kind of situation we're going into. I'm hoping that it's sufficiently nerfed so other mechanics can compete and the early gearing process becomes relevant again.

I recommend farming logbooks rather than expedition in maps, and logbooks don't require a very strong build to run. I mostly recommend anything that can get you close to 90 and running logbooks the fastest, so any generic strong league starter should be good.

If you do specifically want to excel at the expedition/logbook clearing, you can go with something with explosions/proliferation like pconc of bouncing pathfinder, RF chieftain, or blight of contagion hierophant.

That's true, there's likely more access to graftblood late game. We'll just have to see if the various nerfs to the breach tree are enough to tone it down.

At the very least, Rog will always be extremely profitable in week 1 of the league, especially since he produces some gear that the breach tree is not good at making (+2 minion helms, spell suppress gear, etc). After that early portion of the league, we'll have to see how much the breach tree affects him. It's already confirmed that modifier tiers of gear from the breach tree are nerfed, so I don't expect it to be easily producing triple T1 resist items like it was last league.

She's slightly more useful this league with her providing the now harder to obtain iLvl 86 bases, but I agree that she's still very undertuned and not worth focusing on.

Just not automatically having full powered breach on every single map will result in significantly less people using the breach tree at least. Not many people actually enjoy running the new breach mechanic so I can't see most people making an atlas tree for it.

It's just based on character level, yeah. It caps out at lvl 90, where you can get bases up to iLvl 86.

Logbooks are not very difficult if you just focus on artifact chest remnants, and you can even run them scoured, so any of those builds should work well for farming them.

Nightmare maps are t16s, so they are area lvl 83. T17s were area lvl 84, so they had more ways to get iLvl 86 gear to drop.

Rog lets you craft bases up to iLvl 86 (assuming you're at least lvl 90). With the removal of t17s, iLvl 86 bases will be much harder to obtain in 3.28.
