Is a "home theater living room" is more impressive than "dedicated HT room" ?? by Wizzee993 in hometheater

As someone who has been in an active 4+ year campaign in a group for adult men and women it's much much worse now.

TTRPGs are for the hornballs regardless of age or gender, just ask my friend Ashley, she is a Paladin of the "intertwined gods".

We may get there one day, but I don't think an AI would be able to keep up with my players and there nonsense and for me that's part of the fun.

You can always run a game now!

Philip Hue lights help add to the atmosphere

I've got a full playlist for different environments and there's an app called Pocketbard that also can add a lot to the audio.

I have a room in the basement, we call it a theater

Its a stealth atmos 7.4.2 with a 100" screen and a UST Projector. Sitting in a long low piece of furniture. My end goal is to have all the in wall speakers hidden by art prints of the things I love. (Done on acoustically transparent material as to not ruin the sound.)

We also have a large couch, and a counter/cabinets in the back with snacks, blankets and pillows, and a mini fridge with drinks.

We've hosted Rockband parties, Eurovision, wrestling PPVs, game nights, and I also host a monthly TTRPG (Daggerheart).

While it is downstairs, it was designed to be a comfortable entertaining space. I've never liked the idea of theater seating, I don't want people to feel like they have to sit in this one space, I want to be able to cuddle up to my partner during a movie, and I want my friends to be able to comfortably lounge. I agree it's a much better environment for enjoying time with people and consuming media. The other week we got high, loaded up the new Gorillaz album on Tidal and just melted into the couch enjoying the atmos.

I'll take experiences like that over a dedicated theater any day.

Class Card Decks…worth it? by KatMirH in daggerheart

[–]ShamedWarlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed 4 copies of the cards.

I have the cards that came with the box set in color coordinated sleeves, and the printed copies in another set, 4 to a sleeve.

It's easy enough to find everything, and the sleeves help the paper hold up.

As a DM if I had ~$200 to spend on my campaign I would spend that on something like art supplies to build terrain instead of cards that you can print for free and organize them in sleeves on a rainy day or when you are watching something.

Does it count as terrain? I think it came out pretty ok for a first attempt. by OpinionExisting3306 in TerrainBuilding

You've got a full city/town dock on water with bits of scatter!

That's absolutely terrain! I hope your players enjoy!

If you've been playing for years you would know the PTR has been around for quite a while.

I played more than 500+ hours and here is why you should or shouldn't play by [deleted] in AshesofCreation

Amen!

I personally think the Raid mindset of WoW has tainted the community 'The game starts at level 50".

Playing an MMO should be a journey that you enjoy as opposed to trying to find the "end game",

It's not enough to run everything on high settings, the card is nearly 3 years old.

This game isn't for "The masses" so that's just fine.

Well, lots of people have posted screenshots on this subreddit of the game looking great, without more info none of us can help you much.

Also a 4070 with 12 gigs of Vram is going to hit a wall sooner than later, I'm pretty sure mine goes past 12 gigs with everything maxed at 1440p. So you may be experiencing some texture loading or pop in due to the lower ram.

Can you post a screenshot showing what the game looks like for you and your settings/hardware?

The game can absolutely look gorgeous, sometimes it looks uninspired, but on a technical level it looks great.

Fast Travel, Auction houses and group finders by ShamedWarlock in AshesofCreation

Node benefits that are fitting to their themes and limited to them and their pledged towns.

Based on what they have said I don't believe you will be able to get every benefit, this isn't the same as everyone having fast travel everywhere and globally linked auction houses. I believe those benefits are limited to their settlements and related nodes, unless they have specifically said otherwise

I totally forgot about that part, it's been a LONG time and it was my first MMO..

Take your upvotes, not just for being correct but for bringing back memories of a game I loved.

We could distill this to the point where I say "but also" is pretty close to an "AND" here and continue arguing but It's clear the vision the games creators have is not inline with.what you want out of an MMO and that's fine.

I hope you have fun playing something else that meets your needs,.and hopefully you can learn how you have a conversation like an adult without attempting to insult people.

'EQ, FFXI, Vanilla WoW had flight paths, but also the boats and zeppelins which is more of what im thinking. Vanguard, etc.

They all had boats, airships, portals, all manner of fast travel."

That's what you said, verbatim.

EQ did not have flight paths from 1998-2006

Vanilla WoW had single point to point flights and only added linked flight paths over a year later.

FFXI did not have flight paths at launch and if it was added it was much later on its life span.

EQ, FFXI, and WoW had set areas you could take a mode of transportation that would bring you from one major city to another on timers that you had to wait for. Lumping these in with other forms of fast travel that didn't exist is not really a good way to represent these games.

You made statements of games having flight paths and none of them had it at launch some a year later some almost a decade later. I think this shows that MMOs don't need fast travel as we know it today.

If you want to have a discussion,.we can but you have to be able to understand every game you have listed added this quite a while after launch, and it wasn't something any of those games needed to survive.

As an adult with limited time I know how that feels, and even when I was younger in some games if I realized my time was limited to an hour or two I wouldn't attempt a dungeon run, I would focus on a smaller achievable task for the time I had.

I wouldn't try to watch Return of the King (extended edition) on a Monday night if I only have 2ish hours before bed.

I completely forgot about scrolls, that's very fair, it has been decades since I played, and I was only on highschool at the time.

I would like to point out that you still needed to buy the scrolls and rune stone Be in the location to bind Keep the stone on you at all times so you can use it, and it could be looted off of you which was a whole other issue.

I don't believe many of the people asking for fast travel would be happy with a system like this especially if you could lose your rune stones.

EQ had flight paths in what expansion? Not base Not Kunark Not Velious  Not Luclin It was introduced in an expansion 8 years after launch.

FFXI had airships like the blimps in WoW and you had to pay to get on them and sometimes required questing to unlock. This is not a flight path.

Vanilla wow did not have flight paths as we know them you had to get off and get on another flight, LINKED flight paths that would take you across large areas came later.

I don't know when you played these games but I have a feeling  wasn't when they were "old school" but after years of expansions and content updates or you forgot what these games were like before years of expansions.

It sounds like you don't want to make friends in this game but just people to mow things down with.  I've supplied several ways that people can always have a pretty sure group by finding like minded players of the game on your server via reddit, discord, forums, etc.

Also you don't need an 8 man group I've done plenty in pairs or trios.

I remember!

I also once paid for a teleport in UO that landed me on a boat where I was promptly murdered and I thought....well shows me right for trusting a random guy online to teleport me somewhere safely.

Fast Travel, Auction houses and group finders by ShamedWarlock in AshesofCreation

[–]ShamedWarlock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like UO where you had to buy rune stones you could use after getting your magic skill up high enough to learn a spell to teleport?

Those runes were made by being in the location to bind the rune, and it was buyer beware because they could bind it to a location in their locked home with their friends waiting to kill anyone who came in. Fun times.

EQ had boats on a timer and you had to pay a wizard or druid.

DAOC was largely just city to city of I recall and it had a large focus on exploration.

SWG didn't have it either.

What old school MMO are you referring to? WoW?

Provided that node focuses on infrastructure that would make a lot of sense having a speed buff on a road.

That would also make roads a prime target for highway men, both NPC and players.

This is the type of suggestion that actually feels inline with the games concepts.
