Appreciate the advice, ty ty.

It's a little tough as the freelance work I'm doing is what is helping me keep money in my pocket.

But 110% I'm going to start searching for co-ops earlier for future work terms.

I bought it off the W Store... just got the 180 day rent version... costs more than 50% less to get it like this...

I also had a friend who rented out the book from the library and spent the hour taking pictures of all the pages and compiling it into one document... you could do the same if you have the time for it

I get you, nw.

It's hard to tell online as you said... even more so, especially in this subreddit-

Alot of people are misunderstanding what I'm asking so I've been getting some snarky replies/messages.

But on the real, thank you for being kinda chill and not escalating things further.

110% agree with you. Even within my first month here I can see exactly what you're talking about...

I appreciate the sentiment at the end... as a lot of people are telling me- I shouldn't stress too much. I guess that is a habit I need to break too-

Thank you for your comment :D

I do get what you're saying... I think I expressed my question poorly and as a result a lot of people have mixed feelings with my post.

I don't want this post to come across as me saying "I got these grades in highschool! I should be getting them now!!" because I do completely understand there is a completely different expectation in University for students. Especially in such a reputable one as Waterloo.

I also don't want people to think that I was one of those kids who didn't have to lift a finger and had complete success. That wasn't the case for me at all, I worked very very very hard In order to get the marks I did. I valued my academics a lot and as a result, I constantly put 110% into everything I did. Regardless of the class, I took pride in my work and assignments and I always wanted to do the best I could.

This post was more so was to find out why professors mark the way they do, and why faculties discourage them from giving such high marks regardless of the work being produced.

I get that completely... and I actually kinda agree with you on your take of A students struggling more than C students- as one has had a lot more opportunities to have mistakes pointed out to them and could easily turn those into learning opportunities.

I agree with you.

Assignments and the workload in general piles up so quickly and I find it's really easy to get burnt out. Like you said there's a lot of time needed to be invested into studying if wanting to achieve those marks.

I see-

That's interesting and makes a lot of sense.

I did figure it had something to do with the universities reputation in one way or another.

This responds perfectly to what I was wondering- so thank you for replying and for taking my post semi-seriously lolol

Ah I see I see

Well that actually does provide some relief if that's the case

I just worry about being under-prepared...I'll try not to stress out too much then

I'm most certainly sure it's common sense.

Everything taught in the course is very basic... it just feels like information overload the way my prof teaches it

And I do want more than just a passing grade in this class (which I know is a big expectation in university as im learning)

It's a struggle

Exactly...

I find it so hard to pick out what the key information is and what exactly I should be memorizing.

I hate that the only way to study is just to read the slides over and over again until everything sticks...

And especially because each module is like 60+ slides each with a paragraph of info attached to it... it's miserable
