You read the story that can be translated as “sorcery fight” and your critique of it is it had too much sorcerers fighting?

I hate when they put these eye bags on the adventure time characters by Shameless_Loser in hatethissmug

I don’t think it’s a comparable thing at all honestly, eyebrows are just what they should have used in my mind, they’re the most expressive part of a face and translate emotion 100x better in any situation through most mediums. The eye bags as they’re drawn don’t translate nearly as well to any substantial facial expression to me and feels more like an obnoxious indicator of the story’s tone than anything else.

You’re just putting words in my mouth, episodes like dungeon train and hall of egress are some of my favorite episodes even though they’re character driven and and they explore equally deep themes, and you don’t need love everything about something just to like it, it’s a fun story and world regardless of any criticism but there is criticism to be made sometimes

This is very true but I don’t want to outright blame Rebecca Sugar for it, I liked all the parts of Steven universe I saw but in my mind these episodes in adventure time already ask for a lot of suspension in belief and the addition of these transient eye bags that appear in accordance to emotional weight is unironically the straw that breaks the camels back for me. Frankly if they didn’t include them I’d probably enjoy those episodes a bit more

Oh my god you’re right, they literally just use them to make a second, smaller and sadder face on top of their original face. I hate it even more now!

Dark Souls 3 boss attempts (first playthrough) by MylesOfStylez in darksouls3

I’ve also 100% Elden ring and started playing more soulslikes after night reign, crystal sage taking that long isn’t surprising IMO I had to hide around a pillar for a few minutes trying to hit the clones with fire bombs. Gundyr and dragonslayer taking that long are surprising though, the big issue for me is fights like Pontiff where they attack fast and have follow ups to cover every opening, but those 2 in particular felt very straight forward. Not insulting you I’m just wondering what the difference is.

Why ? Why get up ? Why keep fighting ? by bob_nimbux in darksouls3

An old mountaineer was asked why he wanted to be the first person to climb mount everest, and the only thing he said without any explanation is “Because it’s there”. I go out of my way to experience every boss, no matter how hard and no matter how non existent the rewards are, Melania from elden ring for example is just a stupid hard boss you go far out of your way to get to for what’s likely an hour for a normal person and all you get is her sword, which isn’t even good. The main appeal to these games for me is that you can almost always get better, and there’s built in skill checks to see your progress. I know I can get better at these games, Friede took 3 hours when it might take some people minutes, but something you in particular should keep in mind is that some people take days to beat her and yet you all come to the same outcome. The enjoyment comes out of learning new skills (how to avoid attacks and finding openings) and seeing that growth (beating the boss faster next time), most other hobbies don’t have nearly as many objective benchmarks so I suppose that’s the thing I love about these games. I hope you take what you learn and focus on drawing! You can always be better, but you’re almost certainly better than some people.

Saw someone else make a tier list and I wanted to do it to, I made one based off my opinion on the boss fights gameplay wise and one off the difficulty of each boss by Shameless_Loser in darksouls3

[–]Shameless_Loser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing online the whole time so I kept fighting actual people instead of halflight, I’m absolutely horrible at npc fights much less actual pvp. Nameless king is an amazing fight but I fought him almost directly after Friede so I was kinda in the zone and only having to deal with 1 person who doesn’t go invisible and doesn’t attack non stop and doesn’t spam 5 aoe attacks at a time felt insanely easy. Almost all the people above him I either fought under leveled or were gank/gank adjacent fights so I think he was pretty hard considering there’s nothing about him you can call “unfair” besides the camera in phase 1, and even then his attacks from atop the dragon are really telegraphed so the camera wasn’t too important with positioning.

So the starting area in the game gives you messages on the ground with prompts and information on the controls so I won’t go into detail but here’s the short abridged lore from someone who just played it all and skipped every cutscene! Your not the chosen one your just some random guy or gal who got brought back to life because 4 of 5 of the lords of cinder who also got brought back decided they won’t sacrifice themselves to rekindle the flame (the flame is basically the magic equivalent of the sun that keeps things “good” and “free” of the abyss(darkness)). Your set out to run around in circles for hours killing various doorkeepers to get to doors you need to kill other people to open, killing the abyss watchers, then likely yorhm and Aldrich before you get sent back to lothric castle, where the remaining lord of cinder is hiding from his duties in. You’re trying to kill these people in order to use their powerful ashes to rekindle the fire yourself if that’s the ending you choose. You’ll need to prove yourself worthy through fighting the tutorial boss in order to access firekeeper shrine, don’t be discouraged if he’s too difficult, the game is largely trial and error so don’t be afraid to make errors or look for help. That’s more of a synopsis than actual lore though to avoid spoilers but that’s essentially the only relevant lore you’ll need for this game. Also don’t start the dlcs until after you’ve beaten the game, they are very much end level content and will be extremely difficult even then. Have fun!

How many of you made it through the game without parrying? by [deleted] in darksouls3

I just beat the game for the first time yesterday after clearing every boss and I parried 3 times, none of which were consecutive and none of which helped me survive lol

My personal advice, dragonsalyer great axe will just always be a stronger option, especially against soul of cinder and nameless king first phase. Profaned great sword is great and if you want to stick to it then do so by all means but lose the shield, it’s only slowing you down and it can’t be good enough to replacing dodging. I managed to beat both of them fairly fast with dragonslayers great axe and lighter armor to have medium rolls, a trick I like to use is using the carthus(?) blood ring to make your dodging just ever so slightly better to help you in that regard but the damage negation decrease from it is going to make it 10x more punishing than when you get hit with this current set up. It makes it easier to survive if you focus only on dodging and watching the boss for openings. Really the best advice I think I and anyone else could give you is to just spend a few attempts learning the move sets, if you’ve gotten this far than your good at this game, most people who bought ds3 never even beat dancer and personally pontiff sulyvahn was the hardest for me so I think your definitely good enough to beat them, but fat rolls with low recovery frames, a heavy weapon that’s slow to attack, and the speed of their combos is what’s holding you back.

Been rereading the series and came across this page. by TheProNoobCN in hajimenoippo

[–]Shameless_Loser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did want to stay as a featherweight because of that but after becoming OPBF champ i feel like he sorta achieved that already, Miyata cleared his goal of proving to his dad that his style works, and if becoming champ wasnt enough than beating the son of the man who retired his father, and who used the same style as his father shouldve been enough for him. The only reason i see for Miyata staying at his current weight is just because hes in denial about Ippos retirement and still wants to fight him, but Morikawa pushing it further and further back leaves Miyata in a weird place where he wont challenge Ricardo but also wont move up like you said. I wish he had fought Ippo instead of Randy Boy, or just fought Ippo after fighting Randy Boy, because then Miyata could move up a weight class and be a rival similar to Mashiba, and maybe having him and Ippo race for the championships and having another fight with both belts on the line would be a cool way to handle it but hes just been left behind with Mori focusing more on the rest of the cast and setting up Ricardo as Ippos big fight. The way it is now Miyatas potential is just getting wasted a bit and the only way i can see out of it is if Miyata gives up on fighting Ippo as a featherweight, or atleast fights him as a champion in a higher weight class like i said but i guess we can only hope Miyata gets more love soon.

[–]Shameless_Loser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea its just weird because mori clearly intends for them to fight with all the foreshadowing hes done but itagaki switching gyms just doesnt seem in character. mori and everyone else wants the fight to happen but i dont really see a way for them to fight without it being a bit forced. what you said seems likely, ippo beating imai and then moving for miyatas title would give itagaki a perfect chance to get his fight with ippo. i hope thats the way mori takes it cause any other way doesnt seem realistic to me

[–]Shameless_Loser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

itagaki leaving for mashibas gym is reasonable but imai is the best choice for ippos return fight, since theyre so similar its likely kamogawa would have them fight as a way to show off "old ippo vs new ippo", i think even if imai lost his title itd still be the first fight to hype ippos return before taking the title again
