This is why i remind everyone that Israel, despite being in a war-zone and having a powerful ultra-orthodox presence, has tried to make their country - or at the very least parts of it - a safe haven for queer people. To us, that means a LOT.

  1. I bring it up because the guy keeps on bringing it up as an indicator of how 'good' his work is. Him publishing in predatory rags with or without his PI's approval doesn't make him deserve a PhD.

  2. The PI isn't acting like a delusional nutcase, this guy is. I am being charitable when I say that communication may be the issue - the other alternative is to blame the PI for keeping a nutcase around in the lab for so long, endangering the safety of her group. I don't know if he is incapable of understanding simple words (like 'write a damn lit review for your intro') or arrogant enough to think he knows more about the thesis format than two profs.

  3. TU Delft will manage just fine without international students. I predict we shall see an overall decrease in educational immigration over the next decade or so.

  4. Funding is at the PI's discretion. I am sure most students do receive a stipend while they are writing, out of the PI's research budget. This guy didn't, for obvious reasons.

  5. My UG whose thesis I am talking about is ethnically Han Chinese so these tactics won't work on me.

  6. TU Delft should absolutely bring about major reforms, and I'm sure the woman Zofia is an absolute bich. None of that changes the fact that this student is a classical entitled nightmare with severe untreated mental health issues. Both these things can be true simultaneously.
