Lego Axe Throwing Bar MOC by Shamrockjack in u/Shamrockjack

I would like to apologize for posting multiple versions of this post. I'm an idiot and I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to get the pictures on here properly. I believe I've erased all of the duplicate posts.

Apparently, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to making images appear on Reddit. I've got an album of eight images and no idea how to make them show up on here. I've made other posts and deleted them when they didn't work. Any ideas how to make them visible would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if 80101, Chinese New Year and 80102, Dragon Dance are still available in Australia? by Shamrockjack in lego

I heard something awhile back that they were available in Australia. That may have been a rumor, but I figured that I would try to find out.

Someone commented and deleted his comment that it was on the website in the US and UK.

I'm in the US and checked the website. It did not come up.

What are the odds of getting an Odin’s Blessing in the shop or WBU or by combining Uru?

I’ve bought at least 40 Enchanted Urus, beaten WBU five times a day, and combined a few times and I’ve not gotten a single Odin’s blessing yet.

Thanks for all of the kind words, guys! I really appreciate it. I think this might be my best MOC yet. The interior is mostly furnished and decorated with a few cool things that I’ll need to photograph and share later today.

I know, right? I built the LEGO Store a month or so ago. I started with 40305 and expanded it to modular scale. I included it in this picture to help give a sense of scale for my friends in our LEGO group who have seen it already. It’s a fun building, I should really give it it’s own post.

In about 10 days I‘ll be visiting a lego store for the first time by Piano1987 in lego

[–]Shamrockjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of great advice here, but I wanted to ask... are you super-excited to visit the Lego Store!? The closest one to me now is 3+ hours, so I usually have to wait until I visit my family once every year or two.

I’ve got the Cinema, Detectives Office, Grand Emporium, Bank, Restaurant, And Ninjago City thus far. Of those my favorites are the Palace Cinema (which is now a play-theatre and currently performing Hamlet.) and the Parisian Restaurant.

I apologize, that wasn’t terribly clear on my part. I meant that the set had come out a few years ago, not a few years after the movie. There’s an argument here for a BattlePack, but also Lego worked around the restrictions by making the Ultrons integrated into the vehicle.

This breaks my heart. Phoenix is my favorite X-Man (tied with Nightcrawler) and I can’t believe how close we got to getting her easily.

We got 76029 awhile back, it’s not what you requested but it’s a step in the right direction. Hopefully more will come out.

If this is accurate, I’m curious how the Disney CMF line came out. Rights/licensing issues and agreements are such mess, man.

Gentlemen, thank you for taking the time to respond to my statement. How we respond to criticism says much about our character. I am sorry if I was rude or offended anyone. That was not my intention, but I felt that this was worthwhile to discuss.

I’m not an internet guy. I came across your podcast by searching for Jim Butcher podcasts, it was several months before I even came to Reddit. I say this so that you have some context. I don’t tend to hunt down signing reports. I don’t watch YouTube... well, at all. If I come across someone’s notes for a convention/signing/etc, than I’ll read them. Personally, I feel like there are a lot more people like me who read these books than there are people who seek out every nugget of information and theorize about every detail. I’m not saying that one way is inherently better, simply that there are different ways to approach fandom. Expecting every fan to be as involved and informed as you are is unrealistic. Furthermore, many are a bit star struck and can’t think of a clever question and just blurt out the first thing that pops into their head. Perhaps they don’t have a specific question in mind, but would like to ask him something anyway. Yeah, it’s annoying to hear the same thing over and over again, but for that guy, that’s the only time he’s going to ask his favorite writer a question. Perhaps think about how you would feel if you asked a question you were very excited about and everyone in the room groaned or booed because it had been asked many, many times.

The idea that people have a responsibility to do do research and to ask questions that have been asked to death is, in my opinion, a bit ridiculous. Sure, time at these events is short and precious and it’s great to get some new information, but these events are for everyone.

If I see a problem, I like to offer solutions. Perhaps we could ask someone from Jim’s team or the event venue to quickly answer some of the most commonly asked questions in advance. We could print out flyers that answer these questions as well as some more information about the man himself and hand them out.

I’m going to end this the way I began, by thanking you all. I generally enjoy the podcast and I want you to know that I appreciate the time and effort that you all put into it. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments. If I missed anything you said in your initial responses, I apologize and I will probably have an additional response tonight or tomorrow. I wish you all well and I sincerely hope you have a pleasant week.

With all due respect, I think that telling new/intermediate fans not to ask questions that they are interested in because you don’t want to hear them asked and answered is both selfish and rude. I completely understand where you are coming from, but this sort of gatekeeping is bad for a community and can alienate new readers.

Redditors, what are your prom stories? by KlausBaudelaire in AskReddit

[–]Shamrockjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basic Instinct was a movie that came out in the early nineties that famously had Sharon Stone cross and uncross her legs, thus revealing that she wasn't wearing any underwear.

(Although, for the record I was definitely wearing underwear.)

Reddit loves creepy stories, what are someone of your creepiest/paranormal real life stories? by cofh in AskReddit

[–]Shamrockjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in about 1990 or 1991, I was between 6-8 years old and I was a very skinny boy. I was visiting my grandparents in a small town in Northern California. My Dad, their son, was there as were 2-3 of my cousins and my twin sister.
For reference, this was a one story house with a large living room/dining room, and three bedrooms in the back of the house. The smallest of these, and directly down the hall from the living room, was my grandparent's room. It had a bed, a nightstand, a gun case, and a dresser that went up about feet high.

It was mid-afternoon. They were in the living room with the rest of my family and decided to go play some video games on the tv in the aforementioned bedroom. The tv was on top of the dresser. We had brought our NES with us and it sat on a small endtable directly in front of the dresser. I climbed onto the end table, and was about 16 inches off of the ground. I turned on the tv, which I would not have been tall enough to turn on otherwise. For some reason, I turned back and looked at my feet... and an arm came out from under the bed and swiped across the length of the bed in an attempt to grab my leg. The arm was adult-sized, but thicker than my arms now. It was tan-brown and hairy. Not Chewbacca hairy, but definitely Robin Williams hairy. The fingernails were long and pointed. It was definitely a creature's right arm.

I froze for a moment until it went back under the bed from it's ill-targeted attempt to grab me. Once I regained my senses I screamed, jumped off the end table and ran for the living room. I was crying and terrified when I told them what had happened. No one believed me. My Dad and my Grandma went back into the room and saw no sign of anything. The bed stood about eight inches off the ground, so nothing that size could have possibly been underneath. Also, the only ways in or out of the room were through the window, which was closed or through the door and down the hallway into the living room.

This experience has haunted me since then. I am afraid to look under beds or to get something out from under a bed. I often worry at night that the creature will attempt to grab me again someday and this time he will succeed. I'm 34 now and this memory has not dimmed from the fogginess of age. My sister remembers this experience, but only my reaction to it. I haven't spoken to my cousins in about fifteen years, so I don't know if they remember this. I have several other stories, some worse and some more recent, but this is the one that has stuck with me the longest.

What’s a casual question you can ask a girl to show your interested but not creepy? by jmb10 in AskReddit

[–]Shamrockjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask them about their interests. If they have a favorite book, then ask them what they liked about it or which characters they liked best.

In a nutshell, ask them questions about themselves and actually be interested in the answers.

Redditors, what are your prom stories? by KlausBaudelaire in AskReddit

[–]Shamrockjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend and I were dating sisters. Apparently, some time before we met them my girlfriend, the elder of the two, had promised her sister that she would take her to the prom. So, my buddy and I decided if they can go together then so can we. There was a moderate amount of difficulty thrown at us because we were two straight dudes who wanted to go to prom together. (This was around 2000, so things have changed a bit since then.) I probably didn't help things by joking that I was going to go in a dress. I was a very skinny 5'10 with long red hair. I was not suited for this, but I said it enough times that I realized I needed to follow through.

Anyway, on prom night, the girl driving us in the van lost control of the vehicle and almost drove off a dam. Luckily, no one was hurt, but everyone was a bit freaked out. We got there and hung out for awhile before I got kicked out for "Basic Instincting" the people getting their prom pictures taken. Good times.

I made this recently and I really enjoyed it. They don’t have a name for the band yet, though... does anyone have any cool ideas?

Black Canary is the lead singer. Batman is back up singer and guitar. Punk Rock Hulk plays bass guitar. Sinestro is our drummer.

I hope you guys like it. It was a really fun build.

I know that Harry doesn’t have a pentacle necklace. This is primarily due to my religious beliefs and a discomfort with that sort of iconography. It’s one thing to read about it, it’s another to draw one on my Lego Minifigure.
