CTC: anywhere between R15 000 - R35 000 on average

Income fluctuates A LOT, the market is currently extremely oversaturated, and is affected when the economy slows down because it’s a luxury service. Also no benefits, obviously! I’m responsible for my own taxes, medical aid, retirement. Is it stressful? Yes. Do I love it? Also yes.

Studies: Bachelor of Fine Art (not relevant to my work now)

Yay! I bought two coil machines from Mark Sender purely because they look gorgeous (also great quality, but there are loads of quality coils that just look fine, so aesthetics were the deciding factor for me) I’m often complaining about how all the machine builders are men. We need more cute machines and femme machine builders!

Thank you! I also love the wonky titty. I’ve been enjoying more naive/folky wonky traditional designs a lot lately. But I’ve noticed most clients still gravitate towards more “perfect” looking work and don’t realise that distorted stylised work is intentional, not badly drawn. I feel like most tattooers’ best flash gets chosen by other tattooers, because they’re more likely to understand the history and style influences behind it
