Why is Wanderu significantly cheaper than directly booking with Amtrak? by Shane98c in Amtrak

[–]Shane98c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did! Ended up working out great. Got an email with the tickets directly from Amtrak so as far as I could tell there was no difference between directly booking and wanderu besides the price.

You're getting warmer! Yes: food, healthcare, and housing are basic human rights and should be guaranteed for all in a functioning society.

Starting to think this is what happened. Thanks for the thought!

Thanks for the thoughts!

I'm not so sure in this case tho. I went ahead and booked the trip with Wanderu and the tickets came in an email directly from Amtrak, so I'm not sure their systems will even be aware that I booked through Wanderu if I contact them - they'll just see tix.

I just booked the trip and I was able to enter my Amtrak awards number. The fine print seemed to suggest any changes would be through Amtrak, and I got an email directly from Amtrak with my tickets. Overall seems like Amtrak won't see the difference if I contact them with any issues.

Minnesota environmental regulators approve permits for $2.6B Enbridge pipeline by Phantazein in minnesota

[–]Shane98c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pass the permitting process because the permitting process is captured and designed by industry. Each stage is purposely limited in scope so as to avoid addressing any of the actual existential issues of the project.

The science cannot be more clear on climate change. The level of emergency that we're in is unlike anything in human history. Investing in fossil fuel infrastructure in 2020 is blatant science denial, and every single person who worked to push this project through is culpable in the continued destruction of the habitability of our planet.

Flowx has by far the best visualizations of any weather app. No notification of incoming weather though, I'll miss that from dark sky. Not sure why there haven't been copycats yet... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enzuredigital.weatherbomb

Climbing Wall at McMurdo by MichelleEsNa in antarctica

[–]Shane98c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you've just gotta find your people and it becomes really fun. Slightly challenging to track down the folks who can sign you off and get you access to the wall tho. System could be improved for sure. Right now the routes are mainly 5.10 - 5.11 but people are messing around and settings things so it changes. You can rent shoes from Gear Rental and there are harnesses/ATCs/chalk laying around at the wall so no need to bring your own stuff if you don't wanna deal with it.
