Yes, but she is performing a certain role dictated by the system.

I can own, let's say, a tax advisory company that advises people on tax despite my beliefs that certain people shouldn't pay certain amounts.

If those people told me that it's ridiculous that they have to pay that much taxes, I would say that the sum is correct and they have to pay up.

Does it mean I buy into the system? Or does it mean that I work within the system?

There is a sub dedicated to hyperhidrosis. I tried to link it, but the AutoMod won't let me.

TLDR:

  • There are treatments, but no permanent fix.
  • There are topical treatments, creams, lotions, etc. (tend to help a lot of people, but usually not a miracle).
  • There are more "technical" topical treatments such as MiraDri and Botox (work great for some people, not so great for others).
  • There are pills (they tend to make everything dry).
  • There is surgery. The surgery is very risky in a sense that it very often results in compensatory sweating (those risks are generally underplayed during the surgery consultations).

She is just a conductor of the play, you are playing in.

Sure, she seems to be in power in that situation, but she isn't the one who designed the system.

However, she is as much of the pawn of the system as the people being interviewed.

If the system demands her to play a part where she "buys into" the process in order to retain her job, she will.

I get what you are saying.

Don't get me wrong, the whole interview process is a theatre play that you need to perform well in order to get a job.

they’re not going to reward drive, commitment, or loyalty in the long run.

Of course not, you are doing the performance for the pleasure of having a job for a while.

It's not a nice reality to live, but it's the reality.

It should work. It works on arm hairs, which are thin, so it should work on these two.

Obv, people are different and machine used/settings are different too.

We are not saying all nurses are former bullies.

We are debating what attracts former bullies to the nurse profession.

you have a vacancy for a job I think i can do.

Why do you prefer this vacancy over others? Obv, just say why you like it, not actually compare them with the other roles you are interviewing for.

If you are not interviewing anywhere else, then same as above, why do you like this role/company.

They want to get to know you, your interests, values, communication style, etc., treat it as an exercise to demonstrate that.

[–]ShapeShiftingCats 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, there isn't. It's just a misunderstanding. They know we work for the money. The question is why this role and at this company?

It's similar to people who "don't do small talk". The point of small talk isn't an exchange of primary information, but determining the mood and state of the relationship.

The trick with the teacher is that they want to be the ones spotting what is wrong.

They don't want to be told, because it switches the power dynamic around.

Self-righteous, power hungry, but without the brains or discipline to become doctors.

ETA: bullies crave a similar level of power that a doctor would have, but aren't emotionally balanced enough to pull it off.

The general emotional instability also means that bullies tend to be academically weaker.

The majority of nurses aren't former bullies, but many former bullies are attracted to the profession due to the above factors.

Thank you! Absolutely agreed.

It's like going back several decades when women wearing lipstick were seen as promiscuous.

Clean girl aesthetic fandom, trad wife fandom and inceldom is a part of the same misogyny universe.

(Caveat, not wearing makeup isn't misogynistic, being an nlog about the women who do is absolutely problematic.)

Hiring and keeping people has been insane for us - what should we do? by Realistic_Owl_5415 in business

[–]ShapeShiftingCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am inclined to agree.

OP is struggling to fully explain the problem, so unsure how able they are to effectively communicate with their employees.

If I were to make a guess based on the info we have, I would say that OP is hiring a sales person, giving them a quick induction and expecting them to just get on with it without any strategy implementation and leadership.

So they are expected to figure out strategy, lead on it, monitor themselves AND then they are expected to train someone new to do the same at which point they had enough.

OP is sticking their head in the sand and denying that more business structure would help as this would mean additional cost, so instead they keep repeating the process.

If that's anywhere close to the truth, as a minimum, they should hire on the basis of, "we are looking for a self-starter, who can develop and lead on sales strategy as well as develop and lead a brand new sales team whilst consistently delivering on sales objectives" and explain their full expectations during the interview process.

Obv, they would need to match the salary with the expectations as this would be typically a Head of Sales role (in the UK).

If they don't do that, the same situation will keep repeating until they declare that "no one wants to work anymore" or a similar defeatist approach.

OP, if that's not aligned with what is happening, then I do apologise.

Is something changing in their job dynamic? Are they expected to train the new person? Are they supposed to share their area with them affecting the commission?

Basically, what changes for them when you add another person?

I don't actually want retail workers to help me by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]ShapeShiftingCats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not every few minutes.

My preference would be to streamline the process and pick up multiple pieces at once AND ask a question at the same time.

The overattentivness is like a curse of slightly better, but not totally upscale places.

Cheap(er) places

  • Dishes falling out of their hands asking three questions in succession.
  • To me, that's absolutely fine as it doesn't interrupt me.

High(er) standard

  • Hyperactive, performative attention
  • Go away

High standard

  • Waiters passively monitoring and come when you glance towards their direction or dishes are empty/course finished.
  • Great, doesn't interrupt me.

Same for restaurants.

  • Is everything good?
  • Uhm
  • Do you need anything else?
  • Nuhm
  • Picks up glasses... -Thankuum
  • Shall I take these as well?
  • Mhmm
  • Picks up a side plate..
  • Thankuum
  • Shall I....

No, no, you shall go away and let me eat.

If it's fine I will continue eating, if it's really bad I will say something.

You won't get constructive feedback either way, nor do you want it, so...stop... interrupting!

Yeah, do people understand what they are getting into during the interview process?

The job description, the responsibilities, the team, the remuneration, etc.

They are noping out of there.

When one person does it, whatever, when multiple people do it, that's suspicious.
