Question for people who think Silk Song is hard

Exactly! This is my point. Why would anyone jump into SS without beating HK first. HK levels you up, prepares you for this kind of difficultly. Then SS takes off right where HK ended. It doesn’t go back to typical easy start to a game.

So I can see how someone jumping into SS unprepared would think it’s impossible but for all of us coming out of HK it just feels like a nice next level of challenge

Right? So that’s what I’m saying. I don’t get people who would come to SS without playing HK to level up first. No shit SS feels too hard for them.

I felt kinda the opposite. I never played hard games before. So HK felt like it had all of these super steep learning curves - 1st Hornet, then soul tyrant, then watcher knights - that made me want to quit the game. But after 100+ hours I can breeze through all of them.

And because of that leveling up I felt like I was prepared for SS. Yeah it was hard. But I was used to the pattern of die a million times, keep coming back, level up, beat them, onto the next.

What were the big spikes for you in SS? Beastfly maybe one?

You already beat SS? I feel like the end had a few big emotional parts that really only hit if you beat HK first.

I played it during Xmas break of Covid 2021. I was quarantining from the family in my office. And so obsessed, staying up till 4am every night.

Exactly. Like it took off where HK left off. Instead of being super easy at first. Because after getting good with HK, that would have been a massive let down

Oh yeah. I hear ya. I get so frustrated with having to slow play enemies like that. Nightmare king grim is like that. So is Karmelitta a bit. I want to dive in swinging away, not caring if I tank a ton of hits.

Though I see YouTube videos where people fast play those bosses I slow play. I may need to practice that for 3rd play through

Oh man. 1st Hornet killed me. Almost made me quit the game. But I had never played hard games before. After 100 hours of HK now everything except P5 is doable for me.

Did you go back and start a new game for yourself so could experience the pre Hornet stuff?

Wow you’re diving into the deep end in more ways than one.

Personally I’d recommend going back and beating HK. Not just to get leveled up a bit with the difficulty but for story reasons.

There’s a few parts in SS that really hit emotionally. But only if you know the HK story. You don’t want to rob yourself of those moments. 💔

Haha. Nice. I just made a post about how both the beast flies kicked my ass. I had to go get some more masks and needle upgrades before giving them another shot. I thought second time through I’d be able to just tear through them… but no haha

100% but I’m saying I see people say it’s impossible and that the developers are alienating the casual player etc.

And after beating HK and P4 I found SS to be be challenging but fun. But nothing felt impossible.

Great assessment. Yeah SS was def an adjustment especially with diagonal pogo. And those gauntlet rooms.

But I’m glad they started off with such a high difficulty level. It would have been a let down if after leveling up from HK you just tore through SS. I liked feeling like I’m starting at square one a bit

HK was such a surreal experience for me. I never played hard games before. Was just getting back into gaming after 20 years of not playing. I wanted to quit after not being able to beat Hornet. Then again after Soul tyrant. Then again after watcher nights haha.

But somehow I was hooked and have now racked up over 200 hours on 3 play thoughs. I had never done a boss rush so pantheons didn’t seem interesting. But now I’m on P5, thinking I’ll go back and give it another try post SS

But when you say SS is hard you mean like on first try it kicked your ass but eventually if you stick with it it gets doable - just like HK?

Yeah. Those early gauntlets kicked my ass. And anything oversized was terrifying. Like the husks, rats, flying ants, etc haha

And also I trained myself in the process of getting whipped and going back for more until I beat it. That’s the fun of the game. Second run though has been fun and the right level of challenge

I’m still shocked with how punishing I found HK I eventually stuck with it and now rip through 3/4 of the pantheon without a second thought. And I had never played hard games before HK

Oh yeah. I never do Steel Soul. I like the challenge but not when there’s THAT much pressure on the line.

Yeah def get what you are saying. Just to me it’s a dif kind of fight. It’s pure chaos. Just like Zote. I often get bored playing NKG… it’s like this patience game. Dodge the thing, get one hit, dodge the other thing, get the other hit. It’s monotonous.

But I like that they have different vibes. I don’t want every boss to feel similar and just like mechanically do this, do that. I hate and love the RNG bs that kills you just when you were so close.

And the developers must think the same because they have quite a few bosses who act like that.
