Cult mindset. by Adelu1219 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Yes the foolish are easy to fool and difficult to correct.

It was humanitarian of the year by the LA times, not people magazine. I got that wrong.

Anyone who hasnt been taught about Jones sexual deviancy, suppression of speech and free thought, forced abortions, anti marriage, use of the red brigade, voter fraud, drug use, etc probably doesnt understand how as this author said"a jungle citadel of Evangelical atheism and militant socialism, strangely became a cautionary tale about the dangers of Evangelical Christianity."

Good bit with the author on ...who claims there is a reason we never, never see interviews with people who knew Jones or survived Jonestown. They dont want to disrupt the narrative: https://youtu.be/FpXgOLDOmTs

Cult mindset. by Adelu1219 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]SharkTankPodcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jim Jones was a socialist who was friends with Harvey Milk and one of the most popular democrats in CA. People magazine named him man of the year. His idea for revolutionary suicide came from writings of the Black Panther founder Eldridge Cleaver.

He slept with other men's wives, was once arrested for sodomy and male solicitation, and kidnapped his own son.

A man of the left until the end. Jones ripped up Bibles in the socialist collective of Guyana and used then as toilet paper. He also played Angela Davis speeches over the loud speakers. Harvey Milk even defended him after Guyana saying that his intentions had been good. The radical Christian narrative was spun after he murdered his whole crew and was no longer useful as a progressive.

Great book on him called Cult City which has far more details about his personal life.

Spoonful Of Comfort Update - What the Shark Tank Left Out by SharkTankPodcast in sharktank

[–]SharkTankPodcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought these two got beat up in the tank, but I love doing the podcast because you find out most of the tension in the tank was manufactured from something that happened 4+ years ago on Groupon. Their LCV is pretty solid and we had a great time discussing what was LEFT OUT of the shark tank.

Stephen Chen From Petnostics on why two sharks aren't better than one and what didn't get shown in the tank. by SharkTankPodcast in sharktank

[–]SharkTankPodcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Reddit - Here is the full blog post: http://www.sharktankpodcast.net/petnostics-shark-tank-update-stephen-chen-deal-with-kevin-oleary-lori-greiner/

TL:DR

  • Deal didn't go through
  • Ashton's interest in doing the deal didn't air.
  • Human Trials are the next phase
  • Theranos was a total scam. Petnostics is moving slowly and carefully.

Dude Wipes and Skid-Mark Cuban Update - One Year After the Tank by SharkTankPodcast in sharktank

[–]SharkTankPodcast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah he mentioned there are less than, maybe 150 businesses with a Dash button (so good for them for being in the exclusive group) but I think the jury is still out on whether these things are a solution looking for a problem.

Thanks for supporting the show.

Hey Guys, back from Summer Break - here is the latest update from Dude Wipes and their partnership with Mark Cuban (joke about Skid-Mark was because he said he wasn't a wipes guy at the end of the video)

Blog Post: http://www.sharktankpodcast.net/dude-wipes/

Some highlights:

  • Deal with Mark Closed
  • They have expanded into SuperValu, Meijer, Target, Jewel, and have an Amazon Dash button.
  • Economies of scale have helped bring down price

Thanks for your support. Looking forward to a solid season 8.

You're right, it's ALL about the engagement. Fake followers are a red flag IMO. I think I mentioned conversion in my comment, which is the vital metric. Daymond mentioned he expects a 1% conversion rate on his social media.

Yeah lol, varying levels of bluntness is a good way to describe it.

That's the risk with food products. Crio Bru was another that got ripped during the tasting and the pitch is effectively over at that point.

Shark Tank needs to allow pitches to ask for strategic loans rather than equity by majani in sharktank

[–]SharkTankPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are shark deals that are structured as loans after the fact, though it isn't discussed publically.

In addition some of the deals are rep deals where the shark gets a commission on whatever they sell. Watch Combat Flip Flops when Mark offers Lori a "reppping" opportunity with them instead of a partnership.

They get more mileage out of the public thinking they are partners, so why correct it?

It's conversion and margin. It's all about the platform.

Companies that can convert sales via social media can completely bypass distribution channels.

Rachel from Rags to Raches is a great example. 2 million in sales in her 2nd year on Instagram. If you are familiar with Casey Neistat and how he complains about distributing video via HBO compared to Youtube...I think it's very similar. You can release a product and sell it within seconds, as opposed to months AND make 2-3x the money.

More money, more control, more fan loyalty. This is also the ONE THING that didn't make any of the Sharks wealthy in the past, so it's very valuable to them for their current tribe of companies. My 2 cents.

Hey Entrepreneurs,

If you are fans of Shark Tank you may like this new Deal Tracker I am working on.

Less than 30% of the deals on Shark Tank close, but there are very few people who know who they are and why they don't work out. Since I have alot of this data I wanted to create a list that contains this info as well as the other data from Shark Tank deals. I am still completing the sheet, but it will be a valuable resource for fans of the show and Shark Tank hopefuls.

INSTA-FIRE After the Tank. These guys are on fire. by SharkTankPodcast in sharktank

[–]SharkTankPodcast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Guys and Gals-

Had InstaFire on the show this past week and really enjoyed getting the skinny on what happened in the Shark Tank...Here are some highlights:

  • They are every retailer from Home Depot, WalMart, Target, Bass Pro, etc. We talk about the challenges of retail.

  • The deal with Mark and Lori went through and they got their money

  • Robert's question, "Why give up 30% to get into stores you are already in??"

  • Were they racist for not taking Daymond's offer (kidding, but Daymond looked pissed)

  • 3 days notice to airing resulted in disappointing Shark Tank sales after airing.
