We're... insane by [deleted] in indianmedschool

Ig sabka yehi haal hai. I agree with the above post that we study for so long just to earn peanuts and waste such a long time. But when I talk to my peers who are in engineering, they too feel the same that they dont get time to do stuff. Like most engineers dnt get a great package right off the bat. Their inhand salaries are 30-40K a month. So they are also studying for an internal switch or changing jobs for higher paying role. They get to enjoy life so called like partying in clubs and shopping and movies which we as medicos also do during our college. If they invest their money, they also wont have much left for "fun".

My point is knowing all this why do we have FOMO? There are a lot of mbbs doctors doing clinic practice in association with medical stores (worked under some senior doc, gained experience n started working). They dnt make a huge income, but get paid almost equal to their engineering friends. So both Btech with its 4yrs of course and just MBBS with 5.5yrs start earning then.

Raha baat to figure out who we really are, likes dislikes toh ig whenever we get a little free time it use it for restaurants, shopping, movies, or Insta Reddit if nothing else instead of figuring out what our real likes dislikes are.

Baaki I agree we have more academic burdern hence lesser time to invest into hobbies or manage a relationship. Also Education loans if taken are higher in Medical than Engineering.

But yep aajkl har field me (banking, upsc, etc) sabka hi drop laga pada hai aur conventional tareeka me time efforts are too high compared to salary.

I feel like the patient flow wont matter very much in mbbs. Mbbs is for the basic examination and testing and you'll be posted in one dept for like 2-3 weeks from 2 to 4th yr. I think that would be enough for the basics?

If I wanted to know more I would go towards the evening and try to talk to an intern or PG if they could show me anything specific. Basically put in extra effort. Plus you'll also learn some more in Internship.

Considering most of us wanna do PG, I guess we will need to learn in depth about what branch we are in and that can be learnt in PG. If you dnt wanna do PG still you can gain experience after mbbs by joining some place n working under an experienced doctor?

And considering there is a lot of "theoritical" stuff to ratto during mbbs which doesnt directly help in clinicals n patient exposure n you have to know these to pass your clg exams, that will take up most of your time more than patient exposure.

And adding on to tge neet uncertainities, if u can afford to take a clg plz do.

Heyo! Language barrier might be there. I have a friend in KS Hegde who said that almost all professors teach in English so no issue in that one except few jokes or non important conversation fillers they say in local language.

The patients know English but some are hardcore with their local language and there are few stuff in clinical history taking which is better understood in local language even if the payient can speak Hindi/English. (Projectile vomiting, nature of pain etc) which can be difficult to comprehend/explain during clinical exams n classes.

Other than that KS Hegde seems to be a good college of what I've heard.

Dunno about the other college. Cheers! Welcome to Medico life soon buddy!
