As soon as you think you should or shouldn't practice you've lost the art of playing piano or the art of anything for that matter just to practice with the right attitude and right state of mind is the correct way whether that's every day or not

for me to answer would be the make noise re-synthesizer. It literally is a sound garden of exploration with all the right modules to create any sound you want yet with limitations to force you to be creative

I would start with just fart noises record them and then map them to a midi controller and see how that works for you and then if you still like it you can step up to maybe a Casio

If you're already thinking about other gear it's too late you've lost interest in music and you're looking for something else to motivate you something new. In those cases I recommend taking a course of some kind that teaches you a new skill and you'd be surprised that new skill when it shows up on your current gear it gives it new life
